So I have a bunch of inside sales experience and I just graduated from college with a BA.
I decided I like sales and I have been trying to get into pharmaceutical sales but they all want some previous outside sales experience.
Do you have any advice on where I should get this experience? I am thinking it would be wise to focus on getting a job that is for a recognizable company that trains it’s employs (to build up the resume).
Any advice on where a good field sales (driving around and selling) job for a new college grad would be appreciated
I’ve applied to IKON, XEROX, etc.
How about construction materials? It’s a big market right now. It might be a little rougher around the edges than pharmaceuticals, but it’s probably a little simpler as well.
Do you live in a fairly large city? Try a temp agency and tell them what career path interest you. They are great about this kind of stuff.
And, while you’re there, temp agencies also employ lots of outside sales people. That is, going around to companies and trying to get them to use that agency’s temp employees.
I once interviewed for an outside sales position with Pitney-Bowes copier sales. They seemed to be the type of program you’re looking for, with name recognition and formal training. Maybe try them and their office supplies competitors. Also, any type of medical equipment or supply would probably tie in well to the ultimate goal of pharmaceutical sales.
Newspapers and radio stations (probably also TV) employ outside salespeople to sell advertising.
thanks for the advice guys
I live in a small city actually but I will see if there are employment agencies
I actually interviewed with Pitney and did not like em
