This article is not about Thailand alone, but rather a problem common to all of East and Southeast Asia, that of Western men being transferred to a post over here and bringing the wife, and then the marriage suffers. The problem is SO bad in Thailand that I know some companies will no longer transfer married employees to this country.

Overwork, lack of pre-transfer preparation, and lack of in-country familial support causes marital tension and irrational acts? I’m not surprised. I can certainly see that, if someone’s marriage is already on the rocks, this would tend to crack it open.
