Both cats hornked this morning, Skunk twice. I’ve tried not to let the black cat cross my path today, but it’s difficult when she wants to be fed.
I need to buy stamps, so I can get my tax payments in the mail. Don’t wanna! 'S a lot of money! I owe both for 2006 and estimated payments for 2007. Since I don’t have any income for the first quarter of 07, maybe I won’t owe too much next year, or even get a refund. That’s usually the way it works for me: estimated taxes one year, refund the next.
BioTigs, that resort looks decadent! How are you going to convince the puppies to come home?
Speaking of zombies – I was up half the night with a snorky little boy (can we just get winter over with PLEASE???) running a slight temperature along with the runny nose
… and then spent two hours this morning pinned in a pre-op room with Le 9-Year-Old, who had his ear tubes removed in an outpatient surgical center. I was just about to clobber somebody when they finally came got him. If he asked me ONE MORE TIME how long it would be I was going to grind his bones to make my bread! (His response: “What about squeezing the jelly from my eyes? Huh??”)
The entire adventure took from 8:45 am until shortly after noon, after which we repaired to Wendy’s for sandwiches and Frosties.
Thank you, gigi. Best Friend was in charge of the Kleenex box during the service. There was crying. Mostly me. Partly her. Tel, Driving Husband proposed to QD in January. She has a really hard time with decisions. What if it’s the wrong person? What if, fifty years in, they suddenly hate each other? What if their kids turn out to be Hitler (all of them)? What if she stifles him through bossiness and he never makes decisions again? (Not likely, let me tell you)
Interestingly, she loves him very much, and the thought of being married to him makes her happy. It’s the millions of bad possibilities that make her froth at the mouth.
I am not making any of the above up. They are all real concerns of hers.
I have made shepherd’s pie and pasta sauce, washed most of the dishes, and did the laundry. I am all efficient and housewifely today! Ellen, I like the adjective ‘snorky’.
I forgot! I’m listening to that children’s show in Icelandic. Wow. It’s so… foreign. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Icelandic before. My brain wants it to turn into Chinese, or French, or something more familiar.
What if it’s the right person and she doesn’t marry him?
What if they marry other people and hate them?
What if their kids would have cured cancer and Aides?
What if he decides he’s waited long enough for a decision and calls it off?
The only bad luck I had today was that the feed n seed I usually to to for cat litter was out of it. I use pine pellet stable bedding for cat litter. Sold under the name Feline Pine at PetsMart, it is about 8 bucks for a 10 lb bag. At the feed n seed it is about 7.50 for a 30 lb bag under the name Equine Pine. Huh?
So when my usual place was out, I had a problem. Yesterday was normally litter box day but I was out of litter. The boxes needed changing. Then I remembered another place I had heard about so I headed over the river into Alabama and got 4 30lb bags for $27. It’s cheaper than my usual place and actually easier to get to even though it is a bit farther away. So as usual Friday the 13th is lucky for me!
Had lunch at Rose Hill Seafood today. I have to throw that in to make Swampy jealous.
Got some weird news this afternoon; someone called my husband’s elderly aunt and told her that her daughter was dead. They haven’t been on speaking terms for a few years but it really upset the poor old lady. Her daughter isn’t dead. Why would someone do something like that?
It’s Friday. <sigh> I get to work all weekend. I went to Target, and bought two cans of tuna for Maggie Wonderbeagle, and a belt holster for my phone. I must be losing it(more than usual), I had an intense need to sing the “They’re coming to take me away!..” song in the hardware aisle.
Boofae, I picked up a bottle of Hobgoblin at Total Wine, I’ll let you know what I think.
Mork, glad your co-worker is OK.
rosie, drive safe.
Congrats to Attacks husband! Any update on QD, LiLi?
swampy, the Hillsbourgh Street Waffle House was like a meatspace MMP, you meet the coolest kids. Of course you can get those hash browns too.(mmmm…)
Enjoy the trip BionicTigs, just don’t let Maggie see that website, I’ll never hear the end of it.
OneCent, I think the closet thing to a flame here is my questioning MBG’s taste on pro teams(the Rangers? :dubious: )
Jahdra, Lucretia had a hornk fest yesterday, right after I Swiffered and vacuumed.
Rebo, Maggie fears livestock. and ponds. and vacuums. She might even have phobiphobia.
I’ve probably asked you this before meli, but what’s your major?
I have, as I said, spent all day helping students and grudgingly doing my own work. Grudge grudge. There’s one last kid in here working on the homework - as soon as he’s done, it’s dinnertime. And I have just now been invited to a poker game! It’s been too long since I last played. I won’t pretend to be selachimorphic when it comes to cards, but I enjoy a game of poker now and then. The important thing is there will be beervages.
Ellen, I also approve of the word snorky. Does it mean sickish or irritable, or both?
And that’s awful what that person did to that poor old lady. I suppose it might have been someone’s not so subtle way to get mother and daughter to talk, but still… well, it makes me mad.
Rebo that slideshow of Lucy was jake!
Burgers and fries for supper. I’m full. I got a feelin’ it’s gonna be early beddy bye time tonight for both of us. We’re both yawnin’ like we ain’t slept in weeks. Yeah, we’re just party animals.
I had seafood at home(Whiting, shrimp, calamari(N.O.C.), and clams. I am having a beerverage, then I am watching the hockey games tonight on Center Ice Online.
OCS, the pink in the middle is where the TMI is located. Welcome to the MMP. It’s really a great place!
and Mork, just the use of the word forceps already counts as TMI. . . no imagination necessary.
MamaTigs, have fun on the trip. Your stress-tolerance is mountain loads higher than mine. Doing taxes on the day before you go on a trip and being required to finish that day is more than I can handle. I’m glad your constitution is hardier than mine and you got it done.
Hi everyone!!! Welcome, PennyPostage! Did anyone tell you everyone gets a nickname or three? Sometimes they’re seemingly unrelated to the person’s official username.
That Lazytown video is a little frightening, LiLi.
I learned to read Old Norse (precursor of modern Icelandic), kind of, in grad school. It was probably the most fun language class I’ve ever had. Both classes were really small, maybe 4 students each. We translated lots of passages and were always inordinately proud of ourselves for having translated as much as we had. Some of the stories were REALLY funny, to the point where we had to ask the professor whether we had translated things correctly, because they seemed too funny to be true.
My brother is supposed to run in the Boston Marathon on Monday. They’re saying the weather is going to be the worst ever. He sounded kinda excited about it when I talked to him earlier today. Why, yes, he is weird; why do you ask?
I’ve had chicken tenders for dinner and a banana and some chocolate for dessert.
Back from everything. New glasses will be in within a week or 2. We both decided that we like this optometrist. We both got glasses that come with clip-on sunglasses. Thanks to our new insurance, both pair together just cost $132. So yay!
We checked on the boat - it’s still floating. So yay!
We went to Boomerang’s for supper - **FCD ** got the baby back ribs (I grabbed a couple - yum) and I go steamed shrimps and onion rings. So yay!
Then we stopped at Lowe’s to return some assorted unused plumbing stuff and pick up some trim for the shower. Afterwards, we came home. Then I loaded the kiln and it’s starting to heat up. So yay!
I am so very glad the work week is done. My big vacation is too far away and I’m feeling a little burned out. I’m thinking that I’m going to have to take a “just because” day very soon. I’ll attach it to a weekend so I have a three day weekend. If I was smart, I hold out until Memorial Day weekend and turn it into a four day weekend. I’m not sure I can wait that long.
My fourteen year old nephew is here. He was dropped off just before I got home from work. My husband was trying to talk me into going with them tomorrow so I can record them on the camcorder. Uh…no…the weather is going to be TEH SUCK, and I’m not going to stand out there for hours on end soaking wet and miserable. I’ve got stuff that needs doing here at the house anyway.
Tomorrow evening, we’re going out for a drinky-poo or two, some appetizers, and a movie with my 37 year old nephew and some friends. The kids will be home playing on the 'puters.
Sunday morning, we’ll take the 14 year old nephew back home, over on the Kitsap Penninsula. Hopefully, the traffic on the Narrows won’t suck too awfully badly. It’s a long drive from here.
Speaking of specs (well, FCM did), I’m thinking my son, daughter and I need to go get our eyes examined and probably get some new specs as well. I’ve had mine for three years and so has my son. My daughter won’t even wear her glasses, so we really need to get her checked out.
Dinner tonight will be some big honkin’ hot dogs from the butcher shop and whatever side dishes I prepare to go with them. I haven’t decided on the side dishes yet.
NT, that Icelandic YouTube video is just bizarre - never mind the language issue!
BioTigs, man’o’man - what a kennel! Can I stay there? Have fun on your trip.
Tel, Feel better soon! That’s an order!
Taxi, Glad to hear you and kitty are better.
Welcome, OCS! the more the merrier in this zoo, that’s what I always say. I do too say it! Y’all hush up…
Nava, how do you make that cool “c” symbol for cent? Good luck with the househunting.
:: singsongy voice :: Spats is on The List, Spats is on The List!
Jah, OCS might have some stamps for ya. Jes sayin’…
Ellen, “snorky” is <snerky!>
I thought I lost my glasses today!! They were hanging from my shirt while I was taking pictures. Then I dried Lucy off to get her in the car. I drove down the beach a ways before I realized they were gone. I drove back to where we started, and looked everywhere. I had left Lucy in the car while I searched, but then I felt bad and let her out. She was sitting on them! Heh.
We had fried catfish for dinner and baseball for dessert. We’re winning!
I spent a bunch of time today driving from one place to another, copying files off of CD’s and trying to e-mail really really large attachments to the boss.
I’m gonna sit here on the couch and read til my eyes close.
Fell asleep early (not sure what time, maybe 10ish - very early for me lately). Woke up at 1:30 a.m. or so, figuring it was close to time to wake up because I was thinking about work stuff. Thought it was a weekday morning. Looked at the time and decided it wasn’t time to get up and remembered the day. Wrote down my brilliant work ideas. Now, of course, I’m awake. Wahhhhhhh.
Nah, rigsy, we’re quiet and never chatty.
That pet spa is quite impressive. Reminded me of a medical facility I had to research at work this week that brags that it has a “spa-like atmosphere.” Also you get lots of medical attention.
