Yogurt? Capsiacin isn’t water-soluble so it’s hard to wash away.
Your eye will feel a lot better if you hit your thumb with a hammer.
I once was holding a cup of open red pepper in my mouth and sneezed. I was holding a pizza and trying to open a door if you’re wondering why. I just stuck my face in the sink for like 30 minutes.
Put some milk in an eye-bath and rinse your eye with it. The milk will ease the pain much better than water.
Whatever you do for your eye, wash your hands before going to the bathroom
At least you were the only casualty. Could have been worse.
Seriously! I made that mistake after a rough encounter with Dave’s Insanity Sauce. Just… rough!
Well, fortunately it wasn’t too ridiculous. A relatively mild pepper combined with only the briefest contact with my eye led to maybe 10-15 minutes of pain which went away on its own.
Good. I’ve put a contact lens in after cutting up chillies before now and thinking that washing my hands three or four times would be enough (it wasn’t). It’s not easy to get a peppery contact lens back out of an eye that’s trying to screw shut reflexively, believe me.
Last night, I managed to light my eyelashes on fire.
Don’t ask.
I don’t think you can start that story and not finish it!
I did that with Scotch bonnet peppers once. Was chopping them and, for some idiotic reason, touched my face. I was completely blind for about twenty minutes, despite constant eye washing.
It looked a little like this.
