This piece of metal “edging” (I don’t know what it is freaking called) had come undone and it has a nice knice like edge to it, sticking straight out, perfectuly positioned to inflcit maximal damage. Cut to Tretiak trying to walk across the room - just walking…- when said metal knife-like thing digs into his heel taking out a big ol’ chunk of skin and ruining a new sock, which it cleanly cut throuhg. Did I mentoion the blood? or the pain? Copious quantities of both!! Actually it doensn’t really hurt now…
…except when I fucking walk!! And I kinda of like walking, I found it useful for getting from one place ot the other. But now I don’t like it quite as much and that pretty much sucks.
I cleaned it, put antiseptic cream on it, bandaged it but now I am wondering if I shoudl go get a tetanus shot. I mean it wasn’t a rusty nail or anything.
I want my mommy…or a Doper surrogate would be fine in this case, too.
You Should Defenatly get a tetanus shot. Or at least ask you doctor. Tetanus isn’t just in rusty things. At least they made me get one when when I cut my face open on a split floor board, and that wasn’t even metal. It is better to be safe then Sorry. if it helps, it isn’t as scary if you don’t look at the needle.
I can sympathize–in May I cut the arch of my foot on a cinder block, of all things. Talk about pain. The worst of it was the novocaine shot before the stitches. I already cut my foot, now I get to step on a needle, too?
As for a tetanus shot… how long has it been since you’ve had a booster? If it’s more than (IIRC) ~5 years, then you need to get one. As was already mentioned, it’s not just rusty stuff. I had to get one after Labour day when I stepped on a needle (sewing, not hypodermic).
YMMV, but you might end up having to go to the ER to get your shot, apparently (as I found out last month) there’s a shortage of the vaccine and a lot of doctors don’t have them available in their offices. But even with that hassle, you should go – Tetanus isn’t a fun death
