PA Democratic debate tonight

I agree that her looking up and around made her look untrustworthy… I just think on some level that’s a misread - due to the seating.

On the other hand, some of both of their body language bothered me.

They were both less than honest in places.

Ah, Yep. It was the worst debate thus far in this ridiculous primary. I expected Clinton to go negative, but I didn’t expect the moderators to generously fan the flames. Obama was put on the defensive for most of the debate. Unfortunately, it had little to do with substantive issues. Nope. He had to defend his association with a friend of a friend of a friend’s second cousin once removed.

Ya know, I never thought I’d hear anything about the Weathermen, ever again. Its like *deja voodoo * all over again.

I have to admit … I drifted off for part of it. I don’t know what the boos were about either. Neither was too impressive. Hillary didn’t score much and sounded, well petty. Obama hemmed a bit much.

I can’t hep it, I take this stuff seriously but know better. If Obama had stepped from behind the podium and unzipped to whip out his johnson, or if Hillary had opened a Ziploc bag with a live bat that she calmly munched upon, its little fluttering wings spasmic with agony…

Tomorrow, the polls would register a .05 percent change…

I kept tuning into it, getting disgusted, turning it off, then tuning back in to see if something remotely resembling substance might happen to slip into the crapfest.

Nada, nil, zilch.

But the YouTube clips would be BOFFO!

“Excuse me while I whip this out”

I’m watching the replay. So far it’s been all about bitter-gate, flag lapel pins, and who has more connections to the Weather Underground. I’m glad they hit all my top priority issues first!

How did Obama not just tell that women she was an idiot when she asked if he loved the flag (or however she phrased it).

The absolute shit job that Stephanopoulos and Gibson did. ABC is getting SLAMMED in their comments section. Nothing substantive in the entire debate, and most of it a pile-on on one candidate. Stupid, nasty, unprofessional “journalism”…

Hillary is going to pull all of the troops out of Iraq no matter what happens? She’s lying thru her teeth.

Yeah, I really loved Gibson’s insistence that raising taxes for those making over 200K is so fucking unfair–200K+/year is NOT middle class! I’d like to see those mofo’s try to make it on a real middle class wage, more like the 35-75K range. And quite fucking frankly I do NOT give a shit if capital gains taxes go up to 30% because hey, it’s so effing important that stock traders pay less in taxes than regular people do on their paychecks.

Nice to know the moderators are so in touch with middle class American values.

Interesting, This morning the GMA folks including George Stephanopolos said Obama had the better night. Showing how he would/will react against the Republicans and that Clinton danced too much on the negativity. After Obama took the highroad on mispeaking, bringing up Clintons Tea and Cookies in 1992, he thought that didn’t really reflect who she was. Clinton taken aback by the remarks as Obama laying to rest the Bitter comments, still kept hammering him. Aparently the Obama campaign has announced this morning that “several” Clinton supporters are switching side from her to him this morning, and George Stephanopolos said that Obama even picked up another superdelegate, making it 3 in 2 days.

So in all this looks to be quite nice for the O-man.

Hands down the worst-moderated debate of the entire primary battle. The Always Behind Clinton network spent the first 45 minutes as if they were the National Enquirer Channel. No questions about Mark Penn or Colombia or even NAFTA, a lot of gotcha questions for Obama. He was a bit rattled by it and off his game, but to his credit did not stick the blade into Hillary about the Bosnian story. He could have said something like “Just how much sleep do you need, you told the story three times, once at 9 in the morning?”.

Someone did seem elitist and out of touch- it was Gibson. His compassion and concern for those making over $100K and paying more SS tax was quite touching. He kept insisting that raising the capital gains tax would decrease revenues but I don’t think a cause-effect link is certain. And Stephanopolus must have gotten a call from Bill Clinton reminding him of who gave him a job in the White House. They both acted like they had never seen a debate before, much less moderated one. Neither is fit to carry Tim Russert’s notebook.

Nitpick: Doesn’t “gotcha” mean “got you”? So would “gotcha ya” mean “got you you”?

Ahh, no. Gotcha ya is an SDMB classic.

I e-mailed ABC about how spectacularly awful that debate was. In it I wondered, since there were no substantive questions, why didn’t they go whole hog into sensationalism and ask Hillary if she stopped beating her husband yet and Obama if he is any good at doing the Beyonce Booty Shake. I thought I was pretty harsh.

And then I looked at the comments at the ABC site on both the debate and George S and I saw just how mild my objections were.

P.S. Since when have the debates featured an applause-o-meter? That’s not for debates, that’s for The Gong Show.

It’s a reference to one of the most famous, and funniest, threads in SDMB history.

Interesting but I honestly didn’t find it even mildly amusing. Thanks for letting me know the origin of the silly phrase though.

You had to be there.

That’s okay. I think you had to actually know Wildest Bill while he was here to appreciate just how “him” that was…
