I like how Obama defended Hillary’s “mis-speaking” about Bosnia-- saying that in this day and age of the Internet and 24-hour news channels, it’s going to happen that candidates say things they regret.
She drawing a very BRIGHT line on Iraq. And I’m not saying intelligent.
That almost scares me - and I really want us out of there.
He’s going to do it, too, isn’t he? Argh.
…add a dash of fearmongering, Hillary, why don’t you?
Oh wait! :smack:
They just finished an exchange about what they would do if their generals disagree with them.
I was sort of hoping they would bring up McCain’s comment about deferring policy judgment to Petraeus. That is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how our country is supposed to operate.
But surely Hill’s got one more point to make about her health care plan. If you please, she just needs to hone in on one more small point about the difference by her plan and Barack’s. I know they’ve spent 9 minutes on healthcare, but just one more thing . . . Mr. Moderator, if you will, she’ll be brief . . .
Barack: le sigh.
ETA: I’m not at home and am unable to watch the debate. God damn ABC, for not having a 'net simulcast!
What’s up with George Snuffaluffagus’s lame close ended questions? Anyone else notice how he’ll ask these questions that start “Answer yes or no…” or “Can you absolutely guarantee…”?
Doesn’t he understand the key to asking good debate questions is to keep them open-ended? It’s like all he’s interested in is getting a good “Gotcha ya!” soundbite out of this.
You remember his last long term gig, yes?
He still carries a small crush on Hillary - you could see it best on his Sunday morning show a few months back. When he realized she’d lost, he balanced back out, but he is kinda smitten. imo.
I agree she needs to stop doing this in general.
Did he empathize with her plight (and pols in general) there or did he further highlight the regret she should feel and express even more?
They’ve shown a crawl saying "If you’ve missed any of the debate, go to ABCNews.com. I don’t know if that means they’ve got a live feed or not (and I can’t be arsed to look), but maybe you should check out whatever they have.
Seriously, how is that *not * a conflict of interest, and how is it allowed?
Us Left Coasters don’t even get to tune in for another hour and forty minutes. Doesn’t sound like I’m missing much though, I’ll probably just resort to Olbermann’s recap. Heck of a job ABC.
No, I’ve been trying. They have links to articles about various issues that should surround tonight’s debate, but no actual feeds to anything that going on.
Don’t worry; I should be home by 9:45 EDT. ![]()
And I’ll always have Olbermann’s recap (thanks tds1273).
Henceforth, can we call this the Mickey Mouse Debate?
I mean… Disney/ABC and the really lame first section…
Can we???
Live stream is only available at ABC local affiliate.
Obama looks bored to me. Clinton keeps looking away when she starts a sentence and Obama looks like he’s had enough of her BS. I think she needs a bigger shovel.
Hillary appears very confident and optimistic and doesn’t hesitate much.
Obama appears to try to hesitate and give surprisingly honest answers for a politician. His answers are not as pleasant as Clinton’s.
It looks like stadium seating, but it is distracting when she looks like she’s looking to heaven for words… her eyes are staying more level now I think.
It’s a hard fact Americans will have to get used to. Obama’s not sugar coating anything and Clinton is frosting a f*cking cake. She’s behaving like she know’s she’s through.
Body language plays a big role in how you interpret what people are thinking. She’s not being up front and she’s feeding into her latest trustworthy polls - meaning; she ain’t trustworthy.
I think both their answers on gun control were pretty lame. Both were equivocating – even contradictory.
I missed it - what was the booing about at the very end?
Well, the satisfaction meter was always higher for Hillary than it was for Obama so I guess she won the debate in most people’s minds.
