PA gov't email addresses

Because of a screwup with my employer I am trying to get a refund of the state income tax that they paid to Pennsylvania instead of to Maryland. I am trying to email some higher ups such as the comptroller of PA or Eileen McNulty the head of the revenue department hoping they can help me out. I have spent quite a while trying to find the correct email, and they do not seem to be online. Can anyone point me where I can find them, or, assuming they all end in .gov the general rules for PA emails?

You are probably better off filing a return for the state of PA indicating that you owe $0 tax and getting a refund of the amount that your employer withheld, than trying to appeal to some state beauracrat to help you out. From what it sounds like, you are going to owe quite a bit of state tax in Maryland.

Why not just call? If you explain why the matter could be handled better through email, perhaps they’ll give you an address.

If your employer paid taxes to the wrong state, unless I’m missing something the state isn’t going to refund taxes to you no matter who you email, they’ll refund them directly to the employer. Why isn’t the employer calling to fix the issue? They’re likely to be on the hook if they failed to pay Maryland what they owed, and if they sent some of your paycheck to a third party without your permission then they owe you that payment.

It sounds to me like you need to contact your employer or the state labor board where you are to get your money from the employer to pay Maryland.

I did phone and talked to some low level people. They said all would happen in due time and there was no way to speed things up. When I asked for the number or email to the head of revenue they said they did not have it. I have filled out the PA form and requested the refund, but I want it before I have to pay Marylands because it is 14K and I do not have an extra 14K to pay and wait.

My employer paid taxes for me to PA. This is my money, not theirs and I am the one who will eventually get the money back. It is the eventually that bothers me.

I assume when you say form, you mean filed a tax return in the state of PA showing that you are due a refund of the entire amount that your employer remitted to the state. If you didn’t file a tax return in PA, what sort of form did you fill out for PA?

When did you file this form? You have until April 18th to file and pay your Maryland tax return.
