Levitt was a post WW2 builder that made several communities using assembly line type building to build lots of homes for soldiers returning from war. Wikipedia says he build 7 communities. I live in Levittown and this happened about a mile from me, not that that means anything. This seems like isolated craziness. Also 390k is about the median price around here.
Depends on the specific neighborhood in that area, but that’s about the median house price in in Middletown Twp. PA. In nearby areas, as you move west from Philadelphia house prices rise to around $500K.
Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
This perp missed a bet. Apparently, if you hide the severed head and don’t display it on YouTube, they can only get you for concealment of a corpse.
By the way, if you look up the alleged crime scene address on Zillow (I have a bad habit of doing this), it looks like the home is in a middle-class suburban neighborhood of mostly modest-looking houses in the 300s-400s K range.
Pretty typical for gruesome crime coverage. “See, this happened in such a nice neighborhood. Yours could be next!”
Here’s a list by state. It’s going to vary wildly. And within states, it’s going to vary by cities:
That claims $412K for the US. That feels a little high to me, but it could very well be right. In my neighborhood in Chicago, it’s probably around $350K, but you go to the north side, and you’re looking more towards $500-$600K, I would guess.
But, yes, seemed like a very odd detail to me, and it’s good to know it’s not just me that thought that.
Psychos are psychos. Back in the late 19th century radical anarchists kept preaching “propaganda of the deed”- saying that government and industry leaders should be assassinated to encourage the masses to rise up in revolution. Only a handful of nutcases with largely imaginary grievances took them up on it; and despite the government trying as hard as it could to find cause to put such advocates on trial for conspiracy or incitement, only a handful ever were in specific cases such as the Haymarket Bombing trials.
"Someone’s been beheaded in this home. Chances that it will happen again in the next five years are 43 million to 1. No other house in this neighborhood has these odds. "
Even then the federal use of the death penalty has been extremely rare in previous decades except for a last minute blood bath by the former guy. So I think its unlikely he will be put to death under a Democratic president. Under Trump who knows? He might get a pardon and a medal.
I suspect that the right wing response will be that he was a crazy lone actor who’s actions could not be anticipated so there is no way that Trump or any other right wingers could have been inspired by anything Trump or any other right winger could have said. But if Biden wasn’t so awful then maybe he wouldn’t have cracked and the mans poor father woulds still be alive.
