There are several paintings of this subject but I’m thinking of a specific one and I can’t remember the artist.
This one shows St. Sebastian by himself, at the stake, with arrows sticking out of him (of course). It’s a Renaissance style work I think; St. Sebastian is portrayed as kind of portly and fleshy. He’s looking skyward. Can anyone ID the artist for me??? Thanks.
Thanks Gaudere…similar to what I’m looking for but not quite it. If I remember correctly the one I’m thinking of is a little more brighter in appearance, not so dark.
One of Mantegna’s “St. Sebastian”, maybe? He looks pretty chunky in these. Unfortunately, almost all of the St. Sebastian paintings from this period use pretty much the same pose (alone, stuck w/ arrows, looking skyward). http://www.franceguideprestige.com/louvre/louvreitalian.htm
