Because it didn’t desribe Cheney as a patriot. Obviously a left-wing rag.
Ludovic:
Sorry, you’re wrong. By definition, a majority of the population cannot be “reliably left of center, probably quite a bit so.”
Yes they can. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything Shodan said, but they could.
Jas09:
Well, sort of. He claimed that if someone claims there is no media bias other than Fox News they are probably well left of center. The data doesn’t back that up, as they are nearly as likely to be independent/centrist as they are to be liberal (much less far-left liberal). So, no Shodan is not correct in his claim.
The only conclusion one can reasonably draw from someone’s claims regarding media bias is that if they claim there is a strong liberal bias they are very likely conservative.
In fact, the data he cites shows this pretty clearly - the numbers perceiving strong liberal bias are in the 30-40% range (roughly), pretty clearly lining up with the number of self-defined conservatives in the nation at large. It’s everybody else that either perceives little bias, doesn’t care, or perceives a rightward bias (often described as a pro-business/establishment bias).
I didn’t say Shodan was exactly right and he isn’t. I just said Boyo Jim ’s interpretation that he was completely wrong isn’t true. Personally I would say that people who perceive a liberal bias are reliably conservative and people who realize there isn’t one are likely to be moderate or liberal.
Shodan:
Actually, it is just the opposite - one has to be pretty far to the left to deny it. The US mainstream recognizes the liberal bias of the main networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, NPR, CNBC, The New York Times , The Washington Post , and so forth. Cite .
Cite .Cite .
A good way to judge if someone is liberal, conservative, or centrist is to ask if they believe the US news media other than Fox is biased, or not. If they deny it, and especially if they try to change the subject, they are pretty reliably left of center, probably quite a bit so.
Regards,
Shodan
Inculcation. If they say it long enough and loud enough ,it becomes mainstream . That does not make it true.
If someone says Fox presents news ,that is proof of RW slant. They should be dismissed as biased.
I think you meant Alan Colmes or Alan Colmes even.
