Palins Divorce

The “Trig is not her baby” attacks predated Katie Coruic’s interview. They predated “I can see Russia.”

Family insider , Levi Johnston says her quitting was due to problems with her marriage and greed for getting book money.

And how about this thread – Palin’s getting a divorce! (Despite the fact that Palin hasn’t said so, and has in fact denied it.)

The problem here is that simply because she’s a simpering simp, it doesn’t follow that all attacks on her are equally merited. She deserves flack for her abysmal performance with Couric, and you haven’t seen me defending her for that. She deserves flack for the Gibson interview as well, and you don’t see reams of posts from me trying to rehabilitate her for that.

But she never deserved to be accused of passing her granddaughter off as her daughter. She didn’t deserve to be accused of misstating the role of the Vice President. Just because she’s an idiot, in other words, doesn’t mean she’s always wrong. It seems to me that, having safely penciled her in to the idiot group, the crowd here is now gleefully accpeting of every negative story about her. Why not address each story on its merits? Doesn’t that seem a safer, and fairer, course?

The Palin fapper mythology is that the “liberal media” attacked her out of the gate with the “she’s really Trig’s grandma” rumor. The reality that it was a single public post on Kos (not BY the site, just on the public blogging forum), which was immediately condemned by the majority of other posters and quickly taken down (and was NEVER reported by the “MSM” as anything but patently false) notwithstanding, it was all the excuse she and her media cronies needed to start painting her as a martyr of the “liberal media” and stifle any discussion about the fact that her daughter really was pregnant. They have tried to use that one post to try to stifle any criticism of Pailin ever since. I think the McCain/Palin people might have planted the rumor themselves. It’s done nothing but benefit her.

99% of what Palin has gotten has been self-inflicted. I can’t even comprehend how her fappers can reconcile the amount of cognitive dissonance it takes to accuse the media of “making stuff up” about Palin while simultaneously accusing Barack Obama of secretly being a Kenyan-born Muslim, a white-hating racist, the antichrist, etc.

The G.O.P. is going to need a better slogan for 2012.

I think Mr. Johnston’s status as “family insider” has been somewhat weakened, and was weakened considerably prior to Palin’s resignation.

I also think the use of the word “greed” is needlessly perjorative. Assuming she decided to quit one job in favor of a better paying job, is the best word to describe that really “greed?” Is everyone who moves to a higher-paying job greedy?

There is nothing specific to Palin that would make any difference anymore than she would have to be personally examined to be told that smoking crack is bad for her…and you haven’t shown that she flew with medical advice.

It rather unfortunately worked for them (with slight modification) in 2000 and 2004…

There actually never were any “Trig is not her baby” attacks outside of a few fringe internet posters. It’s a canard that the rumor was ever believed or taken seriously by mainstream lefties.

How so?

What better paying job did she leave for?

And what of how this board treated the rumor?

My point being: it’s possible for both to be true. The mere fact that she spews forth lies about others does not make every accusation leveled at her true, does it?

The difference here is that I try to take each issue on its merits. Barack Obama born in Kenya? Nonsense, and I’ve said so many times here. But there’s nothign that prevents me from simultaneously defending Obama on an issue and defending Palin on another issue. What I’m getting from many of the responses here is a sort of “our team” mentality: we attack Palin because she’s not on our team, and aren’t we lucky that she does so much stupid shit, because we can say anytyhing about her and it’ll sound true.

She totally did misstate the role of the VP, by the way. No one made that up.

By his break-up with Bristol.

Author, according to gonzomax.

The antichrist stuff was made up?

The man’s lost my vote.

Given Dio’s “history” of the Trig rumors, you’re going to have to provide a cite for the actual media bringing up not-her-baby stuff before I’ll believe it preceded ICSR.

I have shown that her doctor, her personal physician, said it wasn’t unreasonable for her to fly.

From what I remember, this board roundly dismissed it, though I can’t swear that one or two people might not have briefly taken it seriously. I also remember taht it was about a half day story.

I’m aware of very few accusations about her that haven’t been true. The only false one I know of is the Trig rumor, and this board’s lefties (in fact, most lefties period) never took that allegation seriously.

The divorce rumor has not been taken as gospel here, simply not dismissed as being necessarily impluasible, only because it’s not implausible that ANYBODY might get a divorce. It happens in half of all marriages. The Palins getting divorced isno more implausible than a coin coming up tails. There’s no reason to get huffy and indignant about people not thinking it has to be impossible.

You haven’t shown that she said so before the fact.

How does that invalidate his knowledge of what he saw inside the family?

She’s denying that was her motive for quitting.

This is the cite game. It takes you ten seconds to type the request and ten minutes for me to find and paste in all the quotes. Were you not paying attention during the election season and honestly don’t remember this?

OK. Palin’s “seeing Russia” comments came from her interview with Charlie Gibson:

That interview happened on September 11, 2008.

On August 30th, 2008, Huffington Post said:

Bricker / Dio -

Neither of you is going to budge. Give it up. Nobody is taking either one of your sides. Palin did not get an express notarized note from her doctor before the flight saying it was A-OK. Neither did the doctor publicly condemn it afterward. We are left not knowing.

You’re both asking for standards of evidence that don’t exist. If you want to believe she was justified or an idiot, go ahead, but stop expecting all of us to care.
