I friend was recently bragging about how he plays his kids home movies on his T/X on long business flights. Personally, I’ve never tried it, but it sounds interesting.
Q: Is there a specific program (hopefully shareware) that might allow home movies dropped onto an SD card to play on a normal PALM T/X?

You are looking for The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP). It will play most video media from your SD card on your Palm TX just fine.
And it’s free too.
I’ll second TCPMP - it’s a great bit of freeware. You might want to use something like VirtualDubMod to resize your video down to the display resolution, to save space on the card.
