Pamaps Grass-Is It Hard To Grow?

I am now planning my garden-and I want to tear out most of the grass in the back yard-I hate mowing grass and all the fertilizing, watering, etc. I would like to plant ornamental grasses-and I like the look of PAMPAS GRASS-is it easy to grow? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

pampas grass is a very invasive non native plant that chokes out other plants and is very hard to remove. its considered a real nuisance in these parts. your neighbors would probably be very unhappy with you. iโ€™d strongly advise against it.

Itโ€™s gotta be native to somewhere. That having been said, Unless you are living in South America, it is an invasive weed. You donโ€™t want to encourage it. In some areas it is illegal to plant, so if you insist, you should do some research.

Yeah, I liked the look of pampas grass too. Bought a couple of plants several years ago, and slowly grew to despise the plant. After we had our first child, the razor-like edges of the grass blade dawned on me. By then both clumps had grown to about 5 feet wide each and it took me lots of work to dig them up.

Put both of 'em in the driveway and within an hour someone gleefully got themselves a bargain. Good riddance.
