Does anyone have an opinion on Panda Cloud anti-virus? How does it compare to other anti-virus programs?
IMO, the only anti-virus anyone needs is (assuming you’re running Windows, which is a good assumption if you’re asking about anti-virus programs) Windows Defender. It has a good built in anti-virus, spyware, and firewall. It works well with other programs, gets updates just fine, and does everything you need.
I’ve been using Immunet, another cloud anti-virus, in one of my computers and have no problems to report. By the way, it replaced Microsoft Essentials on the same machine because ME would occasionally spike the CPU to 100% and that just bugged me.
Nobody uses Panda Cloud?
I’ve read reviews of it in PC Magazine and it rated 99% in detection. It was a bit less accurate at detecting bad sites online, in other words link scanners, but I’ve never had an issue with it.
I like AVG, the only issues I had were the link scanner and email scanner which slows the computer down to a crawl, but makes sense, since it’s looking at the links first.
What I would do is go an install it and see how it works for you. Since it’s free what have you to lose. The only thing is anti-virus software usually conflict with each other so you will have to remove any other anti-virus programs first, most likely
A lot of times virus detectors are personal preferences. I know people who love AVAST, but I can’t stand the way it works, but it’s detection rate is similar to AVG so it really doesn’t matter.
