BTW, what was with the ENT crew’s weapons having apparently no effect on that boarding party? There were several direct hits on the intruders, but the invaders were unhurt; even they seemed a bit puzzled by this.
And then the ENT crew didn’t seem to notice or remark that the intruders were immune to their weapons (unless I missed it). The Captain was interested in the weapon that was captured, but not why thier own were such duds.
Do ENT phasers just basically suck (and if so, why doesn’t the crew just whip out a few handguns or an Uzi, fer chrissakes?), or are some races immune to them?
No, I think he was called Future Boy. Or Captain Galaxy. One of the two.
According to my gyrograph, we are aboard a futuristic cruise ship in the year 1987!
I doubt even Bermand and Braga are that unoriginal. NCB’s a different story though.
Think about all the species that we encountered in TOS that didn’t show up in TNG or the races that TNG introduced but never made the crossover to DS9 or Voyager. The universe is a big place.
Also, think about Earth’s own history. How many Khoisans do you know? Latvians? Aboriginees? Tajikistanis? Andorrans? Amazonians?
Doubtful. That’s what most hardcore elitists wanted but that went out the window when the show was renamed Star Trek: Enterprise. Like it or not, Enterprise is canon, continuity errors and plot holes alike.
Send me an email at aesiron@charter.net and I’ll send you the image I have saved to my hard drive. You have your email option turned off.
If you can, respond either here or there letting me know you got them. I didn’t get a confirmation that it went through but don’t want to resend and unintentionally spam your inbox.
Wow, a thread completely dedicated to one of our trekisms. Now all I have to do and sit back for a Phaser-Cutting-Phaser thread so I too my own horn to.
Okay, crabbier Vulcans? I figure that they went from unemotional (in earlier series) to Holding-Humans-In-Contempt-Crabby-Buttheads in this show. Since the start, Enterprise has been portraying them as if they have some sort of animosity towards humans, and always are grumpy about giving any help or offering alliance. I don’t recall that specific attitude in prior Trek series.
Yes, but it might still all get explained away at the end, with some sort of event that changes the timeline, so that the new official timeline, the Enterprise events Never Happened.
‘Tisn’t just your horn that’ll be tootin’ in that thread.
If it wasn’t for me actually believing carnivorousplant when he said that phaser-cutting phasers were mentioned in “The Devil in the Dark”, and going out of my way to get a DVD of the epsiode so’s I could see for myself, phaser-cutting phasers would’ve been lost in the same dustbin of history as New Coke.
Thanks to all for the serious and/or silly responses to this thread. Much appreciated. I’m going to take a peep at the rerun on Sunday and probably get seriously addicted to this Trek. Thanks for the leg up.
However: I’m still wondering about my earlier question:
I found some speculation in alt.something.etc.trek.enterprise that the ineffective weapons were “pulse rifles”, and Archers weapon was a “Phase weapon”.
Well, no. Not quite. I didn’t realize there were two groups of people on the ship, Marines/MACO(?‘maco’ --wtf?) and Starfleet.
Sigh, I guess I’ll get up to speed on this stuff eventually. I only have myself to blame for missing 2 seasons and showing up late. Where is that online faq for STE hiding?
