I’m so sorry, jayjay. I can’t think of anything else to say…
My thoughts and prayers are with you as well, jayjay.
Oh, my, jayjay…I am so, so sorry
Let me know if there’s anything I can do, hon.

jayjay, I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please, if there’s anything I can do for you or yours just let me know.
What everybody said is totally true. Don’t be afraid to let your emotions come to the surface. Cry, yell, scream, beat up a mattress or whatever if you feel like doing it. Just don’t hold it in. You’re definitely entitled to be mad and frustrated. Just know that those feelings won’t last forever. After awhile the mad feelings and sorrow will burn off and you will be left with memories of the good times and fun things you and your father shared. Those won’t disappear and they’ll be a part of you forever.
If you do decide you can make it to the Dopefest on the 22nd, I think we’d be proud to raise a toast to your dad.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I have no wisdom or consolation to offer. All I can do is give you a hug and some wordless affection. I hope that once you get through the pain, you can cherish the memories of your father;s love.
And the Yentl reference…very nice.
jayjay, only time is going to make things better, but know that you and your family are in our thoughts. My dad died right before the holidays 16 years back, we knew it was coming (the big C), but that didn’t make it any easier. So sorry for your loss.
So am I …

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Best wishes to you and your family in this difficult time.
Nothing more to say than that I’m terribly sorry for your loss.
jayjay,
so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing, ok?
Thank you all. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to post a reply, but we had to make the arrangements today and then went to my aunt’s house where my mom’s brothers and sisters gathered for her. We just got back.
I was proud of her today. She insisted on going into the showroom to pick out my father’s casket rather than having my brother or I do it. She’s starting to show more strength, even though she’s still having bouts of mild hysteria. We got her to eat a little.
Tomorrow is the viewing. It’s not something I’m looking forward to. We’re going about an hour before the official viewing, for a private family viewing. I don’t know how she’s going to react.
Thank you again. I’ll keep things updated.
