Two Minneapolis men have been charged with misdemeanor theft for taking the head of a mechanical gorilla from an Appleton business last fall.

The two were charged with taking the head from the gorilla that had been displayed for 15 years outside Balloon Magic last Thanksgiving Day.

The two were charged after an anonymous caller told Appleton police they were involved. Minneapolis police executed a search warrant at the apartment they shared, finding the gorilla head “mounted in a position of prominence” inside the residence.
