Parks and Rec 11/3 - End of the World

I’m continually amazed by how much stuff gets crammed into a single episode. Each one of the three storylines would be enough for an episode on any other show, but they fit all three in without suffering in quality. Plus, I think every character got a least one line.

Was anyone else expecting the episode to end with Tom starting up a “party” business? I want a drum line at all of my parties.

Boy, $10000 must go really far in Indiana.

I loved the ending- the expressions of awe on their faces were so sincere, plus “where are the faces?”

Wait, did I miss that?

I’m sad that Leslie has apparently let go of Ben.

I loved April: “I’m trying really hard to find something annoying about it… But I can’t.”

April almost blew it with her assessment of the grilled cheese, but she recovered nicely.

Oh! Now I remember the faces line. Snerk. April’s reaction was priceless. It was edited to look like they arrived the next morning, but it would have had to have been at least the following day, right?

They said 30 hours, so yeah, it would be the next day. And there was a commercial for webisodes about their trip on NBC.com.

Where are the presidents’ heads?

I can’t wait to see what happens when Tom finds out he’s dating a Middle Man. That’s why she had to leave for “graduate school.”

When Andy put on the helmet and dove throught the glass door I was once again thinking that they are taking the Andy and April characters too far over the top. My favorite Andy episodes are when the writers give him a little more depth and substance and not just 100% buffoon all the time.

If anyone here still watches TV on TV, make sure you check out Hulu for the Producer’s Cut of this episode, since it’s almost a full 6 minutes longer (not sure what scenes weren’t aired on TV since I only watch online).

I saw the Producer’s Cut of this episode. It was MUCH better than last week’s episode.

Oh that was a great show, I really wish it had done better.
And goodbye e [del]7[/del]WENTY

The important thing to remember is that it was a huge success.

Tom Haverford mentioned that they started the company with $450,000. Did they explain where that money came from?

It was $400,000. And I’d assume it came from the Snakehole Lounge that they had previously invested in, but I’m not sure whether they actually discussed that - I know the proposition to start the company came in the S3 finale (“Lil’ Sebastian”).

By the way, Entertainment 720 has a website. Check out the projected earnings under the “Investor Information” tab - you’d be a fool not to invest!

I vaguely remember John Ralphio (sp?) getting a settlement from being hit by a car.

Ah yeah, that sounds right. Because they only put like 10 grand into the Snakehole Lounge, so even if it was doing well they wouldn’t have had that kind of dough from it.

It was called out in the episode: before Tom had the “final blowout” idea, Jean Ralphio was suggesting they invest the $10k in him getting hit by another nice car.

I’m curious where they’re going with Tom. In the beginning, it seemed like he was remorseful they’d squandered the company and didn’t manage to build something sustaining. But then, rather than using the non-insubstantial remainder in a way even vaguely responsible, he throws a massive party which he can’t quite enjoy. It’s…odd.

Since the last season ender, I’d assumed they were going to set Tom up to become a campaign manager for Leslie, but the trajectory doesn’t seem like it’s quite lining up.

Jean-Ralphio Saperstein … In his second appearance, when Tom was looking for investors to help him get a share in the Snakehole, Jean-Ralphio mentioned that his grandparents had put his inheritance on hold or something but that he was “fluuuuuush with caaaaash” because he got hit by a Lexus. At some point, he said that this was making money the “old-fashioned way.” I have a notion that he’s brought this tactic up again when expressing a need for cash.
