Is that a guess? If so, you’ll need to get a IQ first, before you can take a DQ.
An apt observation; but sort of a pat response, don’t you think?
I’m inclined to agree. BB, especially, has blackened his name with so many of the fans, as well as so many people in the sport, that I think he’ll have a huge hurdle to get into the HOF. I’m less certain about the others you’ve named. (In part because I’m not a sports sort, myself, so I’ve only been following this whole mess at a remove. And can only name two of the others, off the top of my head.)
I’ll admit I’m enjoying a bit of schadenfreude while I watch BB trying to find anyone who will let him play for them.
For the pie madness:
Chocolate pie
strawberry rhubarb.
(I’m not feeling healthy today, so chocolate wins over Apple.)
So, Autolycus, sorry to hear about your inability to sleep. And your conditions. Have you been trying to get seen by any of those fringe doctors who get all that media attention? Maybe one of them could help you.
I think your right Santo I’m also thinking that Autolycus is either a sickly person or a hypocondriac (sp?)
For breakfast I’ll take some cold pizza and a Blue Moon its definantly the breakfast of champions.
So does anyone have opinions about Hillary Clinton?
A few years ago, I decided I really hated her. Back when she was talking about censorship of music and video games and putting a body count cap on movies. I’m against censorship of any kind, and so I couldn’t abide that. Recently though, when I would take one of those stupid little quizzes to see whose beliefs I matched up best with, Hillary would always come in first or close to first. So, I read up on some of what she had to say, and I decided that she maybe isn’t so bad. Of course, it’s a “mute” point now, since she is out of the race. Looks like I’ll have to vote for “John Kerry With A Tan.” Maybe he’ll do better than regular John Kerry did.
She’s my crack-smoking, junior Senator.
More seriously, I don’t particularly like her. And there are a number of things she’s done and advocated as a Senator that I disagree with profoundly. I also believe that she made a number of campaign promises that she not only hasn’t managed to fulfill, but that she had to know at the time were so much smoke and sunshine to blow up the electorate’s ass.
I also believe she and her office has been very good about constituent services, and she has done reasonably well representing what she believes are the interests of her constituents. Not as good a job as my senior Senator, but let’s be honest, her ambitions were always for higher office - which meant she had to take a more visible role than Chuck Schumer has been happy with.
Having said that, I would have voted for her for president over McCain, had she won the nomination.
If you wanna talk like that, come join me where I’m grilling the hot dogs.

I haven’t read the thread yet; I am sorry that I haven’t arrived to my own party yet; I thought we were starting Monday?
I will read it ASAP and get some guesses in!
Sure, I’ll come over. I don’t want to derail the party, though.
I just use that phrase to express my frustration and anger with some of the things she’s said and advocated where her stated reasons for saying those things have no relation with reality. Mostly in regards to her support for the idea of sealing the border with Canada such that it would be impossible for people to sneak across it. I simply do not believe it is possible to do, at any kind of economically feasible manner, and that trying to claim we can achieve that is wishful thinking approaching the Shrub level. Even if it might sell well with the electorate.
ETA: OOoh! DaphneBlack is here. The last of our merry band. (snaps a picture)
In reverse order:
- I thought it started on Monday, too; guess we were both wrong.
- It shouldn’t take too long to read through everything, although even as a guest I’m still kinda confused about a lot of it.
- Greetings, O buddy! Glad you made it!
Daniel
Oh yes, how did you know? In fact a month ago I landed a book deal about my experiences. I’d be writing it now except for my carpal tunnel. Actually, I’m going to have to duck out of the party for a bit to see a specialist. Sorry
Would you consider it a great lie if I said no?
OK I have just read the thread quickly. I may have to go back and take it slower for some official guesses. Hi, fellow hosts Santo and Oredigger!
Sorry for showing up late everyone! Nice to see our party is so well-attended. A few questions:
Otaku, what’s your favourite camera? Canon or Nikon?
Auto, have you considered going to the doctor?
Dolores, are you connected with Obama’s operations in Chicago? I wish I could be there helping out!
Everyone: obviously we’re a sophisticated bunch of folks here, happy to talk politics. So I feel comfortable asking: how do you (all) feel about the place of religion in modern life?
Bah. Not to step on anyone’s toes, but none of the modern religions do much for me. Personally, I stick to the classics. For example, whenever a divination goes correctly, I offer my gratitude to Odin Grandfather.
Daniel
Thanks for the welcome, LHoD. I’m just wondering - how do you feel about formality in speech these days?
It’s hard for me to answer direct questions in general; I just try to pipe up whenever I can. I’ll try to answer this one, though:
I think that leet-speak and the like are a scourge of modern times. We were far better off when folks stuck to regular mail and its more formal style. I say that despite the fact that I like to text people, send email, blog, and go on messageboards.
The compromise I’ve come up with for myself is to have one location from which I try to do all my communication, a location that reminds me to keep a more formal style. My local post office is just down the block, and whenever I am typing, whether it’s to send a letter or to go online, that’s the place I’m located.
Daniel
Well, one mans religion is another mans poison. Looking at it that way, I would say religion can have a place but it shouldn’t be the centerpiece of secular life. There are just too many different religions for any single one to be primary. It scares me when people try to make their religion the law and force others to follow what they believe.
No one asks me stuff. I feel left out.
It’s a little cold in here. Oh… collapses on the floor
Apologies, Drain. I’m sure I speak for the other hosts when I say we want everyone to feel included.
So I have a question for you: do you think ‘less is more’, generally speaking?
