Is there a password manager out there in cyberland that can take all my passwords (and I gotta lot of them!), organize them, and allow me to use just one password for everything I need a password for? I’m going nuts trying to remember (even recording) passwords.
Firefox can do this by autosaving the passwords to individual sites and setting up one password to access Firefox itself. IE might have something similar although I can’t seem to locate it in to options.
I use Password Safe. It is very small, needs no install so I can carry the executable + keystore on my keyring flash drive, and easy to use. There is a Java version also, which I have not tried, which presumably runs on non-windows machines.
I use Any Password. Works for me so far.
ETA:
Just noticed that the free version is apparently not fully compatible with Vista. I use XP, so that’s not a problem for me, but if you’re on Vista you might want to try something else.
I use this, but it’s important to point out that when you clear all private data, the passwords are no longer saved.
When you clear private data in Firefox, it gives you options of what to clear and you can easily uncheck “saved passwords.”
And it’s endorsed by Bruce Schneier, so you know it’s secure.
