I decided to attack this question scientifically, and by “scientifically” I mean: “I had five minutes and a Google connection.” I searched “Pat Boone asshole”, and got 157,000 results. This thread was the top link.

For comparison, I then did the same for some other people, both known assholes and people whom I had thought were generally well liked:

That last one was surprising, but it make sense. A lot of people have a beef with the Catholic Church, and he’s the face of it. “I know, everyone likes Neil Patrick Harris,” I said to myself.
