I never get the argument that climate scientists are somehow cooking the books “for their own ends”. Being a climate scientist is not exactly a lucrative gig, so I just don’t get what their own ends are. You know how a credentialed climate scientist could make a shit ton of money? By claiming that climate change is NOT happening. They would be the darling of the right and the fossil fuel industry and make money hand over fist.

Celebrities think people will listen to them – and they’re right. If millions of people who are never going to meet you are going to take an interest in your sex life, they will also take an interest in your politics.

I guess I’m guilty of believing there was a bottom to this pit. Apparently it goes all the way down to Hell, and then keeps on going.
I think it works like this: a few deniers I have encountered are also scientific racists, one of the latest rotten “points” they use is that there is a “white genocide going on” so one favorite tactic is to use race to create a wedge against immigrants and environmentalists. It is an effort to claim that the “real racists” are not part of his group.

The idea of Pat and their ilk IMHO is to claim that racism is part of this movement (hence why I’m really of the opinion that he is an asshole douche-bag). If more immigrants (of the wrong races) come to the USA then they will have a huge carbon footprint (besides removing the white race), therefore being against immigrants is ecologically sound :rolleyes:. And stupid, as the fake environmentalists then never are there to demand the reductions in emissions that all should look at, so race is one factor that I have seen coming from the anti-environmentalists, but not quite as one expects, the intention here is to use race as a wedge issue and they have no intentions of doing the right thing, both for immigration and for the environment.
In essence, they expect that then people will also support anti-immigration efforts in the guise of ecology, something that the Southern Poverty Law Center noticed awhile ago:

And that is how I think Pat got the idea that racists are involved here. His sources are poisoning him now. I see moments like this one as evidence of how sick puppies some hangman ripoff artists are.
