I’m seriously thinking about doing it. I’ve been intrigued with the idea of doing a 24 page, 24-hour comic since I first heard about it two years ago. The Laughing Ogre in Columbus is sponsoring it again, I think (it’s not listed as an event on their website, tho. so maybe not)… this year’s event is Saturday, April 23rd.
I haven’t signed up yet. I’m a little uneasy about talking the talk - trying to put together an ENTIRE comic book in 24 hours without benefit of notes, preliminary sketches, plot summaries, direct research and including pencilling, inking, coloring!!! etc.
But I have an idea for a comic book I’d like to do. I’ve thought up a plot, written a little script on scrap sheets of paper when dialogue snatches, character ideas and plot points come to me.
I’d love to, but it does seem rather daunting considering I’ve never even made a full comic under normal conditions. Whenever I try to do comic strips I just end up making them full of inside jokes and obscure references that no one finds funny except me.
I’m hoping the proximity to other fans doing the same thing will spur me to depths of energy, creativity and innovation that will help me not onlt see me through to the end, but complete my project, too. Maybe make some comics buddies outside cyberspace. Most of my personal friends don’t share my interest/passion for comics.
I’m nervous about failure, too, but I’d hate to let that stop me.
