Patrick Swayze is dying

Gotta tell ya, I’m still in the “doubtful” camp. We’ll see and I hope for his sake that this is his “Paul is dead” moment.

I guess you didn’t see Donnie Darko.

You win the intartubes!!!

Story confirmed by his pr rep.

Close, but he’ll have to take the runner-up prize, second to garygnu’s comment.
“Hi-ho Road House, away!”

Not exactly.

Perhaps reports of his imminent demise have been sensationalist exaggerations. This from his doctor, via People magazine.

Let’s hope it’s his doctor giving us the straight scoop and not the National Enquirer.

My apologies for the redundancy. I was interrupted mid-post and didn’t notice that Lute had slipped in and posted a link to the doctor’s comments.

While his current condition has apparently been exaggerated (by the National Enquierer… surprise surprise), his illness appears to be real:

Quite unfortunate… pancreatic cancer is a bitch. Here’s hoping they caught it in time.

:frowning:

Since The Outsiders.
What is this “Patrick Swayze Christmas” bit? I need Cliff’s Notes.

If it be not in violation of the rules, a YouTube link to “A Patrick Swayze Christmas”

Jeez, let’s hope Roadhouse doesn’t become Giant this year. Anybody checked up on Sam Elliott and John Doe today?

:frowning:

Patrick Swayze is another actor I had the privilege to work with for a short time.
He is a really nice guy, as is his wife…I wish him all the best and hope he recovers.

One thing from back then, he seemed to love to hang around shirtless and he was also one of those guys who ALWAYS had to put his arm, or at least his hand, on your shoulder when he talked to you…kind of unnerving, but that was just his “country boy” way I guess.

He was also always courteous to his fans and would not just sign autographs, he would talk to them, ask where they came from and just chit chat for awhile. I thought that was cool. Trust me when I say not a lot of Hollywood actors took the time to talk to their fans.

True story… my mother loved *Dirty Dancing * so much, she convinced the manager of the local video store to give her the promotional cardboard cutout of him with Jennifer Grey on her knees at his feet. It stood in our den for years and years.

Plus, he’s the king of “movies you always stop and watch a bit as you flip channels on the weekend.” *DD, Roadhouse, Point Break… *

That’s too bad.

My partner’s late father battled pancreatic cancer for 3 years. Not a common occurrence with this particular nasty disease, but it is 3 years that she and her sister and mother and the rest of the family felt very blessed to have, including me. He was able to give one of his daughters away at her wedding, and I otherwise would not have been able to meet him and let him know how much I loved his other daughter, and that I would take good care of her in our life together.

I hope that he has as much time as possible with those that he loves, and that he is as pain free as possible.

It’s from MST3K:

I’m flipping through the channels and *Road House * is on. A scene in the bar with both Patrick Swayze and Jeff Healey. Fucking depressing.

Patrick Swayze has been married to the same woman for decades, is a dancer who presumably takes care of his body, and he gets cancer?

Life is so fucking unfair sometimes. :frowning:

So you’re saying… say, Britney Spears, what, deserves cancer?

Well…if someone *has to * get cancer…
