Paula Deen

Complaining about my repeating the points I try to make over and over again doesn’t answer them or make them go away. And you are right, it’s not a conversation. With the exception to a few posters (very few) my legitamite questions are concerns are continuously interpreted as though I am condoning or defending racist behavior. I understand the claims that it’s not about a 30 year old comment, but that seems to be the main argument for Paula Deen’s current situation and certainly the move cited and getting the most attention. If the media’s report is not one-sided, then show me where I am wrong. Saying I’m wrong about it, and then calling me a list of cuss words doesn’t prove you right, doesn’t address what I’m saying and isn’t going to get me to shut up. It will just sopt my responding to you.

Yay!!! Someone read something that might reflect another side to the story!! You are exactly right. Ms. Jackson trying to get Paula to back her on a business venture and of course she would be super duper nice because she was trying to get her money. There are several other instances that would cause one to question Jackson’s story. Is she an opportunistic hypocrite? IDK. Maybe. Is Paula Deen a silly old racist? IDK. Probably. Does the news take the time to report both sides of they story so the public can make an educated opinion? Hell no, no money in that.

No evidence that Paula regularly employs the N-word.
No one said that all white southerner pine for plantation weddings, use the N-word or tell racist jokes.
Paula never said she wanted to dress up little monkeys for a wedding.
There was deflection on the Today
The second paragraph is correct, only that I believe this is a reaction to the media’s reporting.

You guys complain about my constantly coming back but I’m pretty sure you have been with me for at least 6 pages Troppus.

man you are basically just a punctured mylar balloon filled with pumpkin roll diarrhea

i mean, you were five days ago, too, but now the spew-hole is a bit bigger than it was then and also you’ve got some jeep tread prints over the front of you that make it harder to read your festive legend. is it… “Happy Graduation!”?

No, it shouldn’t be just “another day at the office.” But, let’s examine things, isn’t the ENTIRE point of this thread, from start to finish, that Paula Deen during her un-washed days used a racial slur and that people of color, and their white supporters, should ultimately get over it? I am not “baiting”, whatsoever. Just seems to me that is what most of the Paula Deen defenders on this board are saying. “It was a comment thirty years old”, why is it relevant today? Oh, and by the way, “get over it.”

That’s it; prove me wrong.

I wouldn’t give too much credit to the media and their “gotcha” brand of reporting. Deen’s own mouth, you know, had a LOT to do with what’s being reported. You say it’s one-sided? Okay. But, has EVERY bit of reporting, since the dawn of time. been “exactly call it down the middle?” Because a black woman had glowing reviews about Deen isn’t the total experience of all black people that were ever associated with her. Do you think if Deen never caught so much public flack about this whole deal that she would have been as moved to tears as she was on the Today Show? Often times, we reach for the onion after we have embarrassed ourselves, particularly when there’s an audience watching/listening.

I have nothing against her. As in, I don’t know the woman personally. For goodness sake it’s very possible I am wrong about her. I, like you and everyone else, can only go on what’s presented in front of me. She just came across as insincere to me. I don’t like the fact that it’s so easy to blame other groups of people, and their nasty misuse of the word, and figure it’s your cue to use it too. The problem I think most people had was, as I said, her overall disposition. She seemed unaffected. Some people want to say that the “race card” is being played. A modern term. But, however, that supposed card is as effective as a two of diamonds.

Nice post. +1 a fuckin million times over.

You claim that you never made any of the statements that you actually made, as evidenced by people cutting and pasting your own fucking posts.

Your questions, while NOT legitimate, have been answered numerous times.

It’s been explained to you numerous times that this is NOT the main argument.

It’s been explained to you numerous times.

It’s been explained to you numerous times. Your inability to read the words given speak to your illiteracy, your racism, your oddly impassioned defense of a racist, or all of the above.

In other words, Paula, you were wrong, you’re a racist, and you’re ignorant of your own racism. You deserve what you’re getting.

Cracked takes on Paula Deen and her fans –

From Tao Te Ching, Chaper 8:

Not much overlap between that and usage of ‘nigger’, no?

I should not get into this again , but I am a little bored right now…and so will delve deeper into the awful everyone is going to dump on you in the worst way with the worst one liners…PIT.

As far as I understand it, Paula Deen said the gawdawful N word 30 years ago during a stressful situation. And she does not remember for sure if she has said it since, but could be. Both of them Big f… Deals.

And she wanted to have some kind of legitimate looking ante-bellum party, but changed her mind because it would not be PC. Big f… Deal.

Now I have to credit her with honesty…

She could have said…I never have uttered the N word in my whole lifetime. And just like many of the Southerners on this forum she could have said she shunned everyone of the slightest racial prejudice who even thought about uttering that terrible word.

Happy Happy Happy. All turns out super hunky dory.

Shows that honesty can be trampled upon. Best to just lie about things. And all of you idiots would probably believe all that crapola.

All I think it shows is that she should have hired the best PR guys possible and paid whatever it took to give a “good” impression to the easily swayed public.

With all her millions, she could easily have afforded that. She went for the cheapie " I can wing this" and just be honest…

Never trust honesty. Trust a good PR man.

I just figured out what you were doing there.

Good one. I love one liners.
