Paula Poundstone - not funny and now this...

What the hell is wrong with people? (whether it’s true or not)

I always thought she was pretty funny – she had a real knack for audience interaction.

I loved her bit about being on an airplane.

Those charges are disturbing, but I have to say I take accusations like this with a grain of salt. My aunt and uncle were foster parents, and one of the girls they took in was pretty disturbed thanks to the adults in her life previously. For reasons unknown, she leveled a false accusation of inappropriate touching against my uncle. He ended up in jail for a while, taken away from his own six kids, not to mention the fact that they (obviously) yanked their two foster children from the home–before being exonerated. Meanwhile life was a living hell for his family what with the publicity, etc.

I know one case is merely one data point, but it’s made me incredibly sensitive to our tendency to assume accusations are true before the facts are in.

Hi, my name is Sneeze, and I hate Paula Poundstone.a

I am hard pressed to think of anyone I find more annoying than Paula Poundstone. I would love to stuff all her shoulder pads down her big, obnoxious yap and toss her into the sewer, where she would be ravaged my albino alligators.

“Full House” is cheesy and bad, but I still watch it because I can make fun of how cheesy and bad it is. Paula Poundstone has no such redeeming qualities - whenever I accidentally catch a glimpse of her while flipping past
“To Tell the Truth,” I get so annoyed I could shit sparks.

Words do not describe how she gets on my nerves.

I dont really have any comments on the article, I just wanted to say that Paula Poundstone.

…sucks.
I just wanted to say that Paula Poundstone sucks.

See how badly she sucks? I get so out of sorts with rage and annoyance I cant finish my

I liked her bit about Pop Tarts… you eat one, but that’s not enough, so you eat another, and then there’s one left, and you can’t LEAVE one, so you eat that, too. You eat the whole box.

I’m not the only person who finds her not funny. Good. And she always creeped me out. I’m saddened by the news, but not a bit surprised.

I think Paula Poundstone ROCKS. I LOVE HER. She is brilliant at riffing off an audience. Just priceless.

As for the charges… big fat grain of salt. I just can’t believe she’d be that stupid. Foster kids are notoriously screwed up, and it’s easy to imagine one making shitty accusations because she was pissed off.

Female on female child molestation is not unheard of, but it is exceedingly rare. I just don’t buy it.

But I’m curious why ** Annie-Xmas ** is “not a bit surprised”.?!?! You suspected her of child abuse all along for some reason?

stoid

I think Paula Poundstone is drop-dead hilarious. I saw her three-hour-and-twenty-minute show here in Seattle last year (or the year before? memory fades). Brilliant at off-the-cuff audience interaction.

Of course, humor is entirely subjective. My funny is somebody else’s boring, and somebody else’s funny is my gouging out my eyes with a melon baller.

This news story, however, flabbergasts me. I can’t imagine how somebody so dedicated to her kids could do this. Obviously, it’s possible for anybody to have a secret life (at least for a while), but I’m going to wait and see how long it takes before this story either solidifies or evaporates.

Actually, I didn’t think it had been disclosed whether the kids in question were her foster kids or some other kids…

I think she is pretty funny, better than most female commedians. There are so many mediocre ones. “I hate my mother.” “Men are stupid” YAWN

Paula Poundstone actually had an original act. Some of it was so-so, but she had some very funny bits. And her ability to work the audience is among the best I have ever seen.

Regarding the allegations, they seem pretty unlikely. But you never know…

Hehe, I like that too.

Don’t know who Paula Poundstone (grrreat name) is and didn’t bother to read the article, but dude, shrug half the charges brought against people nowadays aren’t true.

For what it’s worth, I like Paula Poundstone. I think she’s hilarious. I loved the bit about how her cats were dumbstruck watching her shower because they thought she seemed so brave in all that water. And even though I don’t know any more than anyone else about her private life, I just don’t buy this.

For some reason, though, I always thought she was gay. Maybe she is? Perhaps the part about having biological kids is throwing me off. Not that it would be impossible, I know…

What I want to know is???

Are there any NONlesbian comedians anymore??
GEEZUSCHRIST!!!

Various reports have mentioned that she was cooperating with a lengthy investigation. Does this mean she had been under investigation for these crimes? If so, why would authorities wait on the arrest, possibly subjecting the kids to further abuse? The whole thing is just odd.

I have always found Poundstone decidedly not funny.
In fact, she is one of those people who are so god-awful annoying that you can’t help but continue watching just to re-affirm your utter contempt for them -which actually proves quite satisfying.

Despite that, I wouldn’t wish the hell she is surely enduring on her or anyone.

Why so many people hate this woman is beyond me. I think she is a terrific talent, both hilarious in her stand up work as well as her voice acting/improv work with cartoons such as Home Movies and Squigglevision.
I truly hope these are false accusations and that, consequently, she will be able to overcome the bad press.
And, I too, would like to know why Annie Xmas is “not a bit surprised”(?!)
What an incredibly insensitive thing to say.

Paula Poundstone is gay.

How do you know? Did you fuck her?

I’ve never seen her discuss it in any interviews.

Stoid, how do you know Poundstone is a lesbian? Did she come out somewhere? 'Cause I do recall that, in her act, she talks about dating guys and so forth. While admittedly it could all be a cover, my usual inclination is take other people’s word for it when it comes to sexual preference.

The charges, though. Weird. Dunno what to think about that; latest bulletin, her lawyer says they haven’t indicated what, specifically, she’s being charged with - i.e., what particular lewdness she’s supposed to have done. Odd.
