Where did I say taxpayer money wasn’t at stake?
Maybe, maybe not. A great deal of state and national park land in this country was donated. I have no idea about specific parks in Florida, but the fact that they are owned free and clear is a huge advantage in golf course development. I would have purchased some bonds in such a scenario.
Why do people make a bigger deal about an older tree getting cut down?
Could it possibly be that they are being sentimental and emotional about the tree and not thinking about the actual environmental effects?
I know with trees that age = size (for that tree), but referring to a “hundred year old tree” is like referring to a “hundred year old man”, it tells me very little about it and age is not necessarily the most environmentally importantly factor.
Probably. Simple minded people are probably against cutting down old trees for the wrong reason. But there is certainly a good reason.
I am sure any biologist would tell you a forest can have great biodiversity. An old growth forest/pseudo swamp even moreso.
A golf course? Not much better than a paved parking lot.
Yeah, just don’t tell all the animals living on the golf course. lol.
Funny and true to a point. But I seriously doubt the diversity is as good as a mature forest or swamp.
