For the moment, let’s forget the Morpheus, Napster, Audiogalaxy type file sharing programs. What I would like to know is, what is your favorite web site to buy your music and can you get all types of music? I ask because the one site that I looked at was www.mp3.com and the songs that I looked up were not by the original artists. How much can you expect to pay for the music?
For instance, at mp3.com, I did a search for the song by Tammy Wynette called Stand by Your Man. I got one song found by someone that I never heard of.
Are there any doper favorites that have original artists?
www.emusic.com has a pretty good selection and is adding new stuff all the time. Sometimes the stuff they have is lesser-known recordings by well-known artists, which can be either wonderful or disappointing, depending on what you were looking for. They have a 14-day free trial membership, so you can check out the service, and it’s $14.99/month for 3 months, or 9.99/month for a year with unlimited downloads.
Oh, btw, many of the record distribution companies’ pay sites were giving no online royalties to the artists. They claim that it was under contract. Bugger to them.
