PC Question (There just has to be a simple answer)

My wife an I are set up as separate Users on our PC (Windows 7). On my side I cannot upload photographs anywhere (facebook, Costco, etc.). Something won’t allow them to leave the computer. On the other hand, my wife, on her side of the computer, has no such problem. This was not an issue before I set up two Users. It’s gotta be a setting, right?

Thanks in advance.

Probably you’re just not logged in to those sites from your account. Look for a login button, and maybe a checkbox that says something like “Remember me”.

Instead of

it would help if you could give us the actual wording of the error message(s).

I am logged in. No error message. It just refuses to allow the pics to leave the computer. It just sits there as if I never asked it to do anything.

Do you have access to the internet on both accounts?
Are you logged in to the sites you are trying to use?

There is no possible way to prevent something from leaving the computer, I believe you are describing the problem wrong. Try to be a little more specific.

Can you attach one of the pictures in question to an email and send it to yourself?

Try logging into facebook as you from your wife’s user account on the PC, using her browser, and see if you can upload to facebook. If so, the problem is with the environment on your PC account / browser setup. If not, it has to do with your settings on facebook. If it’s the former, consider what you are running that your wife doesn’t, both in terms of startup programs and browser extensions.

Several possible issues -
Are you an admin on the box? Is she? (I assume your inadequate userid was created second) In control panel, users, as the admin (her?) make your userid administrator too.

Is windows firewall on? Control panel, security.
Firewall is all nice and good for a laptop in Starbucks, but for a box that sits behind a router at home, it’s not really becessary unless the neighbours are hacking into your Wifi.

Did you accidentally put parental controls on your userid? (So you couldn’t upload naked selfies JPG’s to your buds in high school, ha ha…)

Is the same attachment blocked no matter where you try to send it? Firewalls used to block JPG, EXE, zip, etc. because they tended to carry nasty payloads.

Pics can be uploaded to fb et al from my wife’s side.

Both users are Administrators (no passwords)

No parental controls on either user.

It’s really odd in that everything works fine from her side. I can send photos to my laptop and upload from there, but not from my PC.

Is it two new accounts or is one of them the original, and if one is the original, is it your’s or her’s

One is original. Candidly, I do not recall which one is the original.

What precisely happens when you click upload?

Does it start loading and never finish?

Yes

Whatever browser you use, try using a different one. For now, I agree with whoever upthread guessed it was likely a browser extension blocking something. What browser extensions/plugins do you have installed?
