Yeah - that had “Super-villain origin story” written all over it.
But we are told there is no S3 (albeit characters will appear in other projects) and not much space to be a supervillain in what time is left …
I mean, the Nazis won so the joke is that he is much more happy because things have gone his way.
I saw it more that his father in the alt dimension was against the Nazi world. Being a total opposite of Peacemakers real father. Alt Auggie described the Auggie we knew as cruel, and when learning the Nazi’s lost he thought it was a utopian world from which they came.
I mean, he had 3/4th of a monologue about how he wasn’t a Nazi.
Or you’d need a bigger actor if you wanted to shift it to the movies.
Maybe a supervillain’s right hand man?
I really enjoyed the first season. For those who have seen it, would you rate season 2 as good, better, or meh compared to season 1?
Personally, I’d say better. Great material this season and a great twist if you aren’t spoiled on it.
I hadn’t heard that actually but it’s a shame.
And not only that, is Peacemaker’s horified realization that, in this world, his father wasn’t a Nazi, unlike his real father, who was unabashedly a Nazi piece of shit. Had he realized that earlier, maybe things would have worked out very differently.
If there were one there would be a movie or two inbetween, just as this season ties into the previous Superman and the next one.
I had no idea Nelson was still playing.
You watch that finale and that’s your hot take?!
Personally this seems more like an intro for … another show, the next movie … whatever … than a finale. Slightly annoyed?
Well, I just hope it isn’t another three years between seasons.
I have little detailed knowledge of DC comics in general, but reading the Reddit thread for the episode was revealing.
Summary
This is the setup for something based on a DC limited series called Salvation Run. Metahumans are sent to a prison planet called Salvation, fight amongst themselves, but eventually work together to rig up a portal back to Earth.
There has already been mention that Superman and Lex Luthor will work together in the next movie. So speculation (which is probably right) is that Supes and LL will be sent to Salvation.
Also, Checkmate is an agency in DC comics and has had Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Sasha Bordeaux as members, so that’s probably going somewhere.
Thanks for that summary. I was wondering how Chris would get out of that situation.
As discussed above, that’s pretty much it. Consequences of this will appear in the next (few?) DCU movies, at least.
I read last night that Gunn said that in the original script the episode ended with the happy walking out of the building, and the additional scenes were added at the insistence of someone up the food chain at the studio.
When Chris got black bagged at the end of the episode, I was thinking it would be his brother working with Flagg. But nope, I guess they’re just going to leave that thread hanging.
