It actually really is good. I last made it with habanero butter pickles. It was pretty awesome. Try it before you diss it.
I grew up eating creamy peanut butter with hamburger dill chips on whole wheat (didn’t grow up on whit bread at all). The pickles add a nice tang and crunch to the sandwich. As far as PB&M goes, I’ve always found them meh.
Well, maybe if I add grape jelly.

Anything with mayo is better. Anything. As long as it’s Duke’s. None of the other stuff can be considered mayonnaise.

My step father eats peanut butter, mayo and iceberg lettuce sandwiches. The man won’t touch a tomato or a quesadilla or “strange-shaped pasta,” but he devours peanut butter-mayo-iceberg lettuce sandwiches like they’re birthday cake.
I get queasy just thinking about it.
My wife ate peanut butter and pickle sandwiches as a kid because they were Oscar the Grouch’s favourite sandwich. I can’t bring myself to try one. Mayo is equally out of the question.
As a kid, I used to love PB, banana and cream cheese sandwiches, until I developed some kinda PB allergy.
My dad’s favorite sandwich was a PB,P&M sandwich. I’m not saying it was his favorite because of our reaction, but he certainly reveled in our reaction to him eating one. I am kind of adventurous when it comes to food, but I could never bring myself to have a bite of one.
But, I find that intriguing. I love spicy Thai peanut sauce, so that might be up my alley.
OTOH, mayo on a peanut butter sandwich just seems beyond the pale. I think I know how Australians feel when they hear about PB&J’s. I know that I slather mayo all over a bacon sammich, but that’s to cut the extreme saltiness of the bacon, and we’ve already crossed any semblance of low fat when we started heating up the skillet.
PB and Mayo is delicious. For a triad of greatness though, also add Tabasco sauce. The vinegary tang adds just the right notes over the savoriness. Of course, this must all be done on hearty wheat bread.

I ate peanut butter and pickle sandwiches as soon as I was allowed to make my own sandwiches. My mother would not make them for me because she was revolted by the idea, but she figured if I made them and ate them, it was okay.
