Pecan pie.

[sub]BTW, thanks to the poster who first posted the Weebl link. I think it was jjimm.[/sub]

when come back bring pie!
I’ve got to get one of his T-shirts that say that. When I get paid next…

The PEE-kan pronunciation seems to be a regional thing originating in the Georgia/S. Carolina area which has somehow spread (insidiously, I think) to other isolated (one can hope) pockets of ignorance. The one true way of speaking of this wonderful confection is indeed puh-KAHN pie.

The same misguided souls who say PEE-kan instead of puh-KAHN also tend to call pralines PRAY-leenz instead of the proper PRAH-leenz.

Sure am from 'round here. Born’n raised in Chattanooga. After my parent’s raised me up, I moved on up to Nashville, then down to Miss’ippi, then over to Atlanta and now I’m up here.

Where’re y’all from?

God that was hard to type. I am educated, even though I occasionally say that I’m “fixin to” do something. I must, however, punish myself whenever I catch myself saying it.

I’m from Arkansas. My Mama is from Tennesse, a lovely place.

who CARES about the pronunciation?..

I just GOTTA get me some of that pie TODAY!

I LOOOOOVE me some pecan pie!!! When I say that line, I pronounce it “Pee-Can,” but in normal, non-hillbilly speak, I pronounce it “pee-con.”

It tastes damn good either way.

I used to call it pee-can, my georgia boy husband corrected me by calling it puh-kahn whilst we drove by a puhkahn orchard.

I don’t think you can really argue it unless you live in a place where you can grow 'em!
