penguins

This is going to sound like a really dumb question, but I’ve been wondering: What does penguin poop look like? Is it runny like other birds, or does it have a more solid consistancy?

More importantly, what is it called?

Y’all just keep your noses out of my “business”, okay?

I couldn’t find a picture or description of a penguin turd, but here is the Penguin Cam at the Montreal Biodome. I guess maybe if you watch it long enough…

Some info on the critters from SeaWorld. They have another Penguin Cam.

And here are a bunch of penguin links.

And there are yet more penguin links.

Happy krill trails!

Yeah, the question did cause me to think of you, opus.

mellonhead,

I’m sitting here, wondering why in the world you would be curious about the consistency of penguin poop??

It’s just not something I’ve ever worried about…

I got into my car yesterday and noticed a huge accumulation of bird droppings on my windshield…it made me wonder what penguin poop looked like - you know, larger birds and all. I guess you could expand the question to: what does the poop of LARGE birds look like? - bald eagle, emu, ostrich, etc.

There’s a book you might want, then…
“What Bird Did That ?”, a humorous but accurate study of windshield bird droppings.

Sorry, no penguins, though; just a few of the more common US species.

I work at an aquarium. Judging from the white splotches in the penguin habitat, I’d say it’s pretty much the same as gull poop or tern poop – think pigeon poop, and scale up appropriately. It’s not logs, like geese, if that’s what you’re wondering.
