I will be living in Rome for a couple months this summer and will happily send postcards from there. I’ll keep an eye out for the new postcard thread.
Oooh. Oh, yes. A Postcard exchange thing would make Jr Ranger II’s summer. He’ll send postcards of cowboys and tornados.
Great Idea!
Oh! Sign LilMiss up also!
She’s actually asked me a few weeks ago whether I knew of a place she could find pen pals.
She’s all for snail mail letters and postcards-- SIGN US UP!
(BTW, she’s 9, going into 4th grade…pen pals can be boys or girls)
I’ve started a new thread for the Global Doper Kid Mail/Postcard Exchange, although I horrendously mistitled it. (I’ve requested a mod to correct). Anyway, look over there for Postcard stuff.
Use directions here for penpal stuff. And don’t forget to email me and I’ll coordinate. (I’ll be unemployed soon, anyway, so I’ll have spare time for stuff like this )
I’m way too old to be your kid’s pen-pal, but I had a few of them growing up and it was a wonderful experience.
Too bad I don’t have any kids to participate. I do, however, have … a cat.
I hate to admit it, Peg, but my kids would love to get mail from your cat. They are very big cat fans. They often talk in just meows. This has been going on for at least five years. They’d almost certainly write back.
Trying this again since I tried earlier and something ate it!
I should have known better than to post grades since my heathens ages are off from their grades. (late birthdays or deadliners)
Anyway I have a 13 girl, 12 girl, 11 boy, 6 boy, and 5 girl. Because of the younger two is why I thought of post cards.
That and I want to get a world map so we can pinpoint where postcards and letters would come from. I bet Jr Ranger II would love something like that as well.
At 31 I am still writting off and on (snail mail) to a penpal I got in the fourth grade. We’ve talked on the phone a few times but I haven’t been able to find her online yet. Maybe it’s time to do that again?
So, let me know what I have to do to get the ball rolling.
Just nudging this up front near the Global Doper Kid Mail/Postcard Exchange thread. We’ve had good response to both so far, I’ll start to match up people after the weekend, in order to give as many people as possible a chance to participate.
Well, I know the Expansions Sets would love this. We have a 7 year old girl, a 4 year old girl (who will be 5 in August) and an almost 3 year old boy (he would love to get mail also, and could scribble a pic or something).
Sign us up please!

Got your e-mail, Mox. And many others from this and the Postcard thread. If you don’t use your realname on the boards or your username isn’t part of your e-mail name, make sure that you sign your email with your boardname so I can figure out who is who.
thanks,
Shibb
If anyone wants a postcard from an adult living in nowhere intersesting, USA, I’d be happy to oblige. Just e-mail me and let me know.
I don’t think kids outgrow their delight at recieving mail until they get bills rolling in. My boy is 10 and rushes to get the mail daily on the off chance that he’ll get to open a furniture store sale offer marked “resident.”
Are newbies allowed to volunteer/make requests?
You can only lose your (self perceived) newbie status by jumping in. Send me a note and let me know if your son is interested in the Postcard Exchange or the Penpals or both.
