Since Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio are not going anywhere, we all will continue to eat the vast amounts of grain grown in these farm belt states. We’ll also have all the veggies, nuts, wine and good weed from California, the cherries from Washington and Michigan, the maple syrup from Vermont, etc.

There’s also craploads of agriculture in Florida, Illinois, and Iowa. Together with some agriculture in most of the other blue states, they wouldn’t have a problem feeding themselves, if not necessarily have enough for export.
Indeed. Why on earth is this a surprise to anyone? As I told a friend on Facebook (who was upset at the ~750 people from NC who had signed the petition), if you make the incredibly optimistic assumption that 99.9% of people aren’t insane jerks, that still leaves somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 insane jerks in North Carolina, of whom less than 8% have chosen to sign the petition. Where’s the news here? Horrible stupid jerks do stupid jerky things, film at 11.
They’ll just become mole people, and I for one don’t want them burrowing under my domicle just to get to coastal waters. NIMBY
