Is not sweating an indication of anything. Unless humidity is over 90% and temperature is at least 85 degrees and I am working like a horse I seem to never break a sweat. Even underarms and privates don’t sweat. I have never had an armpit on a shirt get damp. Could this be from low blood pressure? I will break a mild sweat in extremely hot humid weather. I also tend not to know when I am thirsty and kind of suspect I may be more dehydrated than I think I am. I have had 2 uncles who were elderly die from dehydration.
Is your pee dark? If it is, that is a sure sign of dehydration.
Lack of sweat can also point to hypothyroidism. Certain genetic factors can come to play as well.
Having dehydration “run in the family” should give you a good first place to look.
I normally foce myself to drink on a fairly regular basis but I notice when I am busy I forget and will often only urinate one time in the day besides the morning. Pee does get dark if I am not drining often enough. I tend to drink coffee or juice but rarely water.
There are drugs that can cause you to not sweat, I know I read an article about doctors RXing something to people with hyperhydrosis.
Ditto the hypothyroidism. When the humidity is up there, I’m in what I call “dishrag mode” where I’m so lethargic that just thinking of walking into the next room is enough to exhaust me.
OTOH I’m very mindful of drinking enough liquids. I always have ice water within reach, or if not that, iced tea or whatever. Nothing carbonated, though – that stuff dehydrates you even more in hot weather.
:chuckles to self: Before I had my thyroidectomy, I was mega undiagnosed-for-years hyperthyroid where the utter thought of sitting still was enough to put me in a tailspin. My thyroid basically burnt itself out. How times have changed!
I have never been diagnosed with thyroid issues but they do run in the family. I am 65 now and still have plenty of energy. Yesterday we were out breaking up concrete and moving dirt in the heat and I noticed everyone but me was drenched in sweat. They were chugging water from the hose every few minutes and I was sipping on a cup of coffee I had poured an hour or so earlier. Later that evening I found I was thirsty and drank a couple of glasses of water.
I’m much the same as you. I only sweat in high temp high activity situations. Although I do drink a lot of water. Two to three liters a day at work plus coffee in the morning and usually a quart of buttermilk for lunch.
Different people also sweat in different areas.
Some guys just step outside and the next thing they know their shirt is soaking wet.
I sweat very little from my chest and underarms. All my sweat is from my forehead. If my shirt is wet, it is from the sweat that fell off my forehead in torrents.
