While I don’t brush at work, plenty of the other womenfolk here do. We have a cabinet set up in the bathroom that is filled with toothbrushes and toothpaste (and tampons, makeup, hairspray, deodorant, etc.) We each have a little area and don’t invade others.
Everyday after lunch, everyplace I’ve ever worked. I’ve never noticed or cared if it bothers anyone else; I like eating apples, carrots, taffy and other delicious things that require my own teeth. I want to keep them.
If someone who just exited a stall finds my brushing my teeth to be grosser than whatever she just did, frankly, I’m not interested in her opinions on personal hygiene.
I don’t think it’s weird. But please don’t make a mess, don’t get your toothpaste spit on the faucet handle, and do rinse out the basin, rather than leaving minty-fresh toothpaste spit in it.
I brush my teeth at work and anyplace else I happen to find a bathroom, including gas stations. I brush 5 times a day usually, and it drives me crazy if I don’t, plus I believe I have bad breath. No one has ever said anything to me about it, but perhaps they’re just intimidated to approach a woman who is foaming at the mouth in a public restroom. If it’s too weird for you, there are those little Wisp brushes…they’ll do in a pinch.
I used to work with a lady who was on a liquid diet that left her with some funky breath. We didn’t mind her brushing her teeth at work one bit… until she started leaving toothpaste globs in the sink.
I’ve brushed my teeth at work but usually only if I’m heading to the dentist without going home first.
In the early 1970s, I had a gum problem for which my dentist said I had to brush my teeth in the middle of the day for some weeks. I was doing that in the men’s room, and one fellow actually complimented me for doing that. However, his compliment was based on him assuming I was brushing just for good dental hygiene. I did admit to him that it was really for a dental problem.
I brush my teeth at work. In fact, most of the people in my office seem to brush at work. I brush after lunch. I’ve never encountered someone who thought it was weird to brush your teeth at work.
I do not get the hangups with people brushing their teeth at the restroom sink. Just be sure to wipe the sink out afterwards with a paper towel to make sure you’re not leaving toothpaste residue.
I brush at work, but it’s more of setting an example. I work with preschool students. So, in the morning, we unpack and do morning meeting. Then, we brush they brush our teeth. The students are less inclined to complain if the adults in the room also brush their teeth. I do it with them everyday at 8:30. Since I have my toothbrush there and my own bathroom, I brush my teeth after I eat lunch.
The only comments I get are “You’re wearing lipstick?” 'When did you put on your lipstick?" type comments. If people see me before 8:35ish, I’m not wearing any. Even though I brush my teeth at home, I would feel weird brushing them at school with lipstick on. After lunch, my lipstick has been wiped off. So, basically, it’s apply lipstick at 8:35 and after I brush my teeth after lunch.
I do not intend to brush after every meal. And I have pretty good oral hygiene anyway. I’ve taken to eating an apple after my morning cup of coffee, and I do use sugar-free gum.
I was just thinking of brushing my teeth once at the office. say, late in the day, around 3 pm or so. That would only raise my teeth-brushing to 3x a day.
I brush my teeth at work if I have to leave early for a dentist or doctor appointment (hey, if someone is going to poke around in my mouth, I want their experience to be as inoffensive as possible). As long as you don’t take an unreasonably long time or leave a mess, no one will care.
