People who ought start thinking of a nickname.

The guy who cut my hair today was named Osamu.

There’s a guy in town who owns 2 coffee shops - one is named after him. Osama’s.

Ahhh, so that’s where the Taliban has hidden him!

Poor guy has taken a lot of flak. :frowning:

Yes, I think that name is becoming amost as popular as “Adolf.”

Nonny

Osama-the-coffee-shop-owner is super cool. I never see him without a smile on his face. Actually, both shops are named after him: “Osama’s Mediterranean Cafe” and “Osama’s Coffee Zone.” We just call the cafe “Osama’s” and the coffe shop “Coffee Zone.”

I do, however, see some significance to the large American flags and relief aid posters he has up all over the shops now. It’s kind of like a preemptive strike.

Feel pity for this tech-company CEO who was interviewed in the 16 September edition of the Toronto Star: I am not making this up:

One of my favorite people is Osamu Tezuka creator of Astro Boy and the Amazing Three as well as generally being considered the father of Japanese anime. :frowning:

One of the guys who donated photos to my metro website is named Osamu Abe.

Hussein al-Herz came to the US in the mid 90’s as a refugee from Iraq. He was in one of the Iraqi army units in northern Iraq that was prevented by the US army from taking Bagdad near the end of the gulf war. After he came here he used to take a lot of flack over his first name. I asked him why he didn’t change it, he said it was his late uncle’s name and his family wouldn’t hear of it.

Jack@ss, when I hear Hussein used as a first name, I think of King Hussein of Jordan, who died in 1999 and was an upstanding human being. I don’t blame him for not wanting to change his name.
