pepsi drinker switches to coca cola

Like GIGO I tend to drink Iced Tea the majority of the time. If I have to choose, it’s always Pepsi.

In my youth I could not taste the difference.

As I grew older, I could taste a difference, but didn’t really prefer one or the other.

Then came a period where I liked using a lot of ice and found that the Pepsi was sweeter when diluted by a lot of melted ice, so I bought that if the price was the same.

Then came two years when I couldn’t stand the taste of Pepsi and had to have Coke.

Then it went away and I was back to tasting the difference but not caring and not really needing as much ice.

Recently I’ve gotten stuck on Vanilla Coke, but only at work, out of the vending machine, with ice.

Through this there have been periods when I didn’t drink much soda and periods when I drank it steadily.

No clue why. Although at one point I was using it (low, chronic doses of caffiene) to control migraines. And, yes, I made sure they weren’t caffiene headaches.

Vanilla, I’d me interested in knowing if you switch back in a few years.

Jolt Cola is the only really good cola.

Boylan’s Sugar Cane Cola is a good second best.

I’d go with Pepsi before Coke.

I like a bit of Cherry Coke with my ice.

I’ve got a nice ‘pint’ (English pint, or 20 oz) glass mug that I fill to the brim with ice cubes and pour my Cherry Coke over it.

Straight, the stuff is a little too thick and a bit too carbonated for my taste.

For variety, I’ll go with Barq’s or Dr. Pepper.

You, sir, are a heretic.

They taste vastly different, and it’s a matter of extreme importance. I choose my friends on the basis of cola preference.

OK, not really, but to me Pepsi is way too sweet, not carbonated enough, and unpleasantly lemony. Coke is not-too-sweet, has a “bite” that forces you to sip it not chug it, and has warmer, mellower vanilla and cinnamon notes, no lemon. Coke is it.

Wheras, perversely, I prefer Diet Pepsi to Diet Coke for all the same reasons.

All this applies to the canned and bottled products only. Fountain drinks are so notoriously variable that the machinery, proportions and mixing procedure matter far more than the brand of syrup used.

I can’t stand Coke or Pepsi. I used to drink Dr. Pepper, but that syrupy taste got old.

My allegience has lied with RC Cola for years now.

Cy

I was practically bottle fed Pepsi as a child. I drank it religiously until about 5 years ago. I was having a money crisis at the time and Coke was on sale for 1.99 per 12 pack. I never switched back to Pepsi.

Finally someone with an ounce of sense. Nothing’s better on a hot day than an RC.

Won’t someone PLEASE think of the children?

Squirt is actually pretty good, but nothing goes with chips like coke.

I agree with you that Jolt is the best, but I’m gonna have to see a cite on this. How does a state ban a soft drink?!?!

Pepsi: it’s the cola. Anything else is for failures.

Are there any colas out there made with real sugar and not corn syrup?

Coke tastes better to me, but I think it IS an aging thing. I didn’t drink anything but Pepsi when I was a kid.

Coke tastes like carbonated pancake syrup that has gone bad.

Pepsi is ambrosia.

Stink Fish Pot:

Yep. Boylan’s Sugar Cane Cola, for one.

It’s too bad you’ve gone over to the dark side, vanilla. Coke will slowly eat away at your brain until you can only post mindless drivel. It should only be used in emergencies to fix car problems and when you’ve got houseguests that have overstayed their welcome.

Come back to the light while there’s still time.

As a complete aside, my Mother is certain that if you drink too much soda, your sweat will become sticky.

It’s a mom thing.

To me, Coke always tasted really good with salty foods. Lays original potato chips and a Coke is sublime.

However, I’ve noticed that Coke tends to “burn” a little bit. It has a definite bite, but I still think it tastes better. I agree with the vanilla and cinnamon undertones.

Pepsi tastes like its watered down right from the container, and it tastes WAY too sweet.

Now, the real question is can you tell a difference between a bottle and can? I think the best tasting thing I’ve ever had was a Coke from a glass bottle while visting the Grand Canyon on a 105* day.

I think they passed a law banning anything with caffeine artificially added over x, Jolt had more than x of caffine added.

I’ll see if I can find a webcite.

We of the Dr Pepper underground will one day overthrow you all and your bloody tyranny!
