Person of Interest: Shaw - Yea or Nay?

I just thought of a disturbing theory: The Rookie is playing a long con on Carter. There wasn’t any murdered shopkeeper in the trunk of that car. It was all staged so that Carter will think she’s “turned” him. They’re setting up Carter either to be killed or framed for something that will result in her being run off the NYPD.

Personally I find the Machine now being fully omniscient and pursuing its own goals to be kind of boring.

Now it is essentially Highway to Heaven with more gunfire.

Yeah I’m thinking Carter taking control of him was far too easy.

I first fell in lust with the actress in the 2 season series Life, had trouble stomaching the USA series Fairly Legal just to see her, and have been very happy that she is a series regular on POI. Putting her on a show I like is great. Anyone else notice how Carter has dropped some weight? And I agree with others…Root is annoying, and not in a good way.

Looking back on Highway To Heaven, I’m not seeing that as a bad thing.

Interesting - so, HR inserts the Russian Rookie into Carter’s confidences by pretending that she has discovered him.

On the one hand, I have trouble believing that. On the other, as portrayed Carter has to be the worst person at covertly following people ever, so it’s pretty believable that they’re on to her.

They even gave him a limp! He’ll be their Harold:p

Root. Shaw. Shower. I approve.

Just noticed that in the opening bit, there’s a brief shot of Root tagging her as “Analog Interface.”

I stopped watching Castle a while ago but that is a plot twist I did not expect!

I’ve seen up to the episode where Shaw’s childhood accident is shown (and where Carter makes a lackey out of Laskey).

I like Shaw but I LOVE Carter.

The “next week’s episode” scenes last night said that one of the “heros” (presumably meaning a main character) will die next week.

I think it’s going to be Carter. It seems pretty obvious that Elias is only helping Carter because he wants to bring down HR (who are enemies of his). Once that’s done, Carter will be a liability to him. Unless I’m mistaken, nobody knows that he is Carter’s informant. Not Harold, not John, nobody but Carter & Elias themsleves.

Incidentally, have we ever gotten an explanation for why Elias isn’t in prison anymore?

Castle killed Beckett’s mom?

It’ll be the dog. Turns out he’s working for HR.

Yes, HR tried to kill him during a prison transfer and now Carter is helping to hide him. It was part of last season’s finale I believe. I don’t think much detail has been given on the exact nature of the arrangement but I don’t believe Elias is allowed to leave that building/basement.

In last season’s finale, Carter freed him. HR used that classic tv ruse of having him transferred from the prison for some reason so they could kill him in transit; Carter foiled their scheme and turned him loose to help her bring HR down. You can almost rationalize it - Elias may be a crime boss, but he’s always been against collateral damage and unnecessary violence (if you’re not Russian). If you’ve got to have a crime boss…

If someone’s going to die, my money is on Detective '“Dwindling Screen Time” Fusco; at this point, who’d miss him?

ETA: Ninjaed

The previews for the 3 week ep arc seem to strongly hint at Fusco. So, it’ll be Shaw.

They need Shaw for POI: Rogue or whatever the spin-off will be.

The Machine will clone her from the juicy bits left over from her exploding demise. Unfortunately, some dog saliva will get mixed in, making her somewhat of a bitch.

I see you winking there. But for the benefit of anyone who is confused, Captain Obvious to the rescue: the quote came from a discussion about season-long plot arcs:

…with the “who killed Beckett’s mom?” being a plot arc. (I don’t watch that show but I’m pretty sure that whoever it was, it wasn’t The Male Lead.)

THIS IS HOW INTERNET RUMORS GET STARTED, PEOPLE!!!1!!!

Also: they can’t kill off Carter–or at least if they did, it would cause the show bad publicity. I doubt that they want to do that. Shaw is more plausible. I’d hate to see them kill off Fusco, but it’s certainly true that they haven’t been giving him anything to do—so it could be that he’s to be the sacrifice.

Maybe Shaw killed Beckett’s mom while she was working for the CIA.

Not impossible.

A crossover between those two shows would be pretty iffy, though (if that’s what we’re considering). I don’t watch “Castle” now but did watch the first few episodes, when it started–and the tone is REALLY different from the Dark Knight vibe of POI.
