Person of Interest: Is anyone else still watching?

I’ve watched every episode since it debuted this fall, and I have to say, it’s really growing on me. I recall a thread on the show here just after it debuted, and people didn’t seem too keen on it. I’m finding the main character to be very Batman-like in his approach, and I like it.

Anyone else?

Watched my first episode tonite - not sure about it - but I did get the batman/chance (human target) vibe from it - didn’t entirely hate it as much as I thought I would - its on the DVR schedule (daughter likes it) until they cancel it - I can’t see it maintaining for long.

Tried to watch it, but there’s not enough time for a show I have to pay attention to. Maybe over the holidays I’ll catch up through MyPrimetime if it’s there, and I like the show.

I don’t think it will last either, but it does have its moments. At the end of last week’s episode, there was a scene that I particularly enjoyed. Reese has captured the bad guy who is a serial rapist, and he has him out in a deserted area. He’s talking with him about what he (Reese) should do about him - should he kill him, so he can never victimize anyone again, or is this scare enough to make sure he mends his ways? You know that Reese is completely capable of killing him in cold blood, but the scene ends with Reese saying, “Help me make the good decision” to the guy, with no resolution. I really enjoyed that - no pat, easy, moral answers given. Is killing a bad guy the right thing? Is letting a bad guy live the right thing?

My dad is apparently watching it. I found this out when I complained about it, and he said he likes it. He likes the Borne movies too, which I loathe, and the pilot made me think of those movies so I’m not surprised.

I watched the pilot and thought it pretty much sucked. Never went back.

Did it get better?

It’s pretty cheesy and formulaic. I’m enjoying it.

I can’t seem to fit it into my busy schedule either.

I blame you people.

I was one of the people who liked it but wasn’t impressed with Jim C’s acting in it. However, after the pilot, what he was doing has worked more for me. If I have any complaint about it now, it’s that we get very little characterization of the main characters compared to the people they are investigating.

I think it’s going to last. This week’s EW has it at #12 on the ratings. It’s getting a 12 share, which I think is good for a show.

Having said that, for me, it will my interest longer if they have either a bigger metaplot that slowly unfolds or something more than a Law & Order type formula. (Nothing against L&O! I watched a lot of them in a row a decade ago. But I got sick of that formula fast, again for lack of characterization of the main people.)

He’s like Batman with PTSD!

It’s got its flaws like most tv shows, but it is holding my interest.

That’s not the worst description ever. (Although I guess you could argue that Batman is Batman with PTSD.)

I quite like it. I started watching it from the start for Caviezil, but it’s probably the other guy, Michael Emerson, who’s kept me watching. It’s absurd and implausible, but I like it better than any other new network show this season. That being said, neither Once Upon a Time nor Grimm has begun yet.

Right now, it’s the only major network prime-time show that I try to watch each week, which is probably bad news for its lifespan. Most shows I like get cancelled after half a season. Other shows I’ve doomed include Journeyman, New Amsterdam, etc., going all the way back to Firefly.

Caviezel is absolutely fantastic in it. Also, the fact that there’s some sort of sci-fi pseudoscience instead of the old lazy “He just knows thing because… magic… or whatever… who cares?” gives the show points.

The thing with the two bad guys in the trunk of a car was truly ruthless. I like that by the end of the episode, not only was the kidnapped kid safe, but the criminal gang was totally out of business. In fact, most of them are probably now being hunted by other criminals.

I saw the first episode, and I catch some of it sometimes. It’s not great, not awful, but I find the robotic/wooden stating of the ridiculously obvious (“She’s in danger. We must warn her.”) by the main characters to be offputting. I can live with the plot silliness, but the dialogue is so godawfully poor in some places that I just shake my head instead of enjoying the story.

I’ve been watching it. I still don’t care for the way Caveziel is playing the character, but it’s a fun show to watch.

I can see what people are talking about, that Caveziel is too wooden/emotionless/whatever, but I think he’s playing a very subtle character - when he’s on screen, my attention is riveted on him, so I give him full marks for that.

Or he’s really wooden and also really good-looking - hard to tell.

I like Caveziel, and I have been watching.

This last episode has some god-awful acting in it though. But then ‘kidnapped child’ episodes bring out the worst in all, especially writers.

I found the first couple of episodes reasonably watchable, but then CBS had a transmission problem – it would only transmit sound, no video – on the evening it was on. When I realized that I wasn’t all that upset about missing an episode, I figured it probably made sense to give up on it.
