Bad Girls
Alcohol, pot, LSD, extasy, and smoking. Those were my biggest. I have now quit all of them. Though I do have a drink from time to time. I am smoke free now for almost 2 days and smoking is by far the hardest one I have ever had to quit.
I don’t allow myself to use a Walkman anymore. I WILL slide so far into myself that I stop talking… I will sign to people… if I even acknowledge their existance.
I read compulsively. Right now I am reading an average of 10 waking hours a day… makes it hard to be a parent.
Internet porn… but that got old. I guess I prefer the real thing! hahahaha
Over-eating, especially carbs. I’m a huge sugar addict.
Constantly worrying and sniping.
Alcohol, but to a lesser degree.
Internet–SDMB, LJ, etc.
JavaMaven1, based on your username, I would have expected coffee on that list…?
My first obsession was cigarettes.
The second is depression/anxiety/food.
I’ve beaten the first one for over 13 years. I’m still battling the second. A little Paxil and WeightWatchers and I’m doing better every day.
I was also addicted to Vicodin (the hateful, evil little pill). I will 2nd and 3rd your “thank goodness that’s done with”. Miss Xanax, I will not impose on you but, would you please e-mail me, I’d really like to talk to you.
(Many apologies for the slight hijack- carry on)
Honey
Yum, where should I start?
Booze
Cigarettes
Bad men
Cocaine
LSD
Psylicybin (did I spell that right?)
Assorted pills
Marijuana
Spending money I don’t have
I don’t do most of these things anymore (almost 12 years off booze & drugs, 10 years off cigs, 10 years + off of bad men). But I will tend to overindulge in just about anything- it’s the way I was built.
Booze
More Booze
Nicotine
Yet more booze
Female high-school dropouts (too easy to impress)
Video games
Horror movies
Even more booze
Cocaine (the potato chip of drugs; try to snort just one line!)
Narcotic Painkillers
Bad Jokes
Women who drink booze
Out of all of those, the only one I have a problem with anymore is the booze and nicotine. I stopped telling bad jokes long ago, I think.
SDMB
the internet. specifically MUDs lately. then suicide.
Honey and Miss Xanax,
Chalk me up as another Vicodin addict. I was also hooked on Ultram and as unbelievable as it may seem, the Ultram withdrawl is WORSE than the Vicodin w/d! I’d like to know how you two kicked it. If you don’t mind, would you please email me? Thanks.
Other addictions:
Food, cigarettes, caffeine (Mt. Dew in particular)
Alcohol
Cocaine
Pills (vicodin, percoset, xanax)
Smoking
Oh, you know, just the everyday ones.
Alcohol. Been clean now for 22years.
Cigarettes. Still have one a month.
Work. Enjoy working more than holidays.
Cats. We share a house with seven cats and a dog. Love this one - not willing to chage.
Narcotics, been clean for 15 years.
Cigarettes, been off them for 12 years.
Skittles. sex. working too much. SDMB. the internet in general. sex.caffeine. exercising. sex. nail biting. trying to solve all of my friends’ problems for them. shopping. did i mention sex?
In chronological order:
nail biting (over it, thanks to special nail care: filed/laquered nails don’t have those edges where it’s so nice to start gnawing)
worrying what people would think about what I said/did to them (almost competely over it, but it was really so annoying I actually evaded people -it almost did not seem worth the trouble)
procrastination (i didn’t know that was an addiction till I read some good books about it -check Amazon .com if you’re interested)
reading
sugar (I am not more addicted then most people, but recently read more about addiction and sugar really qualifies as an harddrug)
I tried some other things that qualified as drugs (coffee, sigarettes, alcohol, marjiuana, psychedelic drugs), Fortnately, I just did not like them. I never had any problems in not trying them again.
Are you female?
SDMB
Carbs ( mostly comfort, but mostly laziness. Cooking is not my thing.) I am slightly overweight, but more out of shape than anything and it drives me nuts.)
Day Dreaming. (Walter Mitty Is My Personal Hero.)
Reading.
OCD hand washing or water related things ( shower, dish washing, laundry)
[list]
[li]Stealing (big one when I was younger, not anything expensive but a lot of inexpensive stuff. I got really bold for a while, then all the sudden I got “the fear” and stopped)[/li][li]Carbohydrates[/li][li]Sex[/li][li]Sugar[/li][li]Infidelity[/li][li]Sex + Power all at once. Pretty much just being able to string along as many guys as possible. Still dealing with this one. [/li]I suppose the last 4 are all connected pretty closely, I just can’t pinpoint the one thing that is the similar. Probably the power aspect of it, I greatly enjoy that. It’s definitely my more serious addiction.

Well crap. That didn’t work at all how I hoped it would. Everybody gets the point though.
