Personal Photo Web Sites

I’m trying for the umteenth time to design a series of web pages to display my daughter’s and pets’ pictures. I put one together and ask my wife her opinion. At first, she didn’t care for my designs (“Don’t like the tables.” “Sorry, dear, that’s the nature of HTML.”) She’s liking them more and more, but I’ve got writer’s block designing the final ones.

Can you TMs reply with addresses of your pages you’ve designed, so I can perhaps break through my block? (I don’t want to copy, just get some fresh ideas.)

Thanx, Tony

Here’s mine:

The Picture Page section is probably what you’ll want to look at.

My very favorite collection of personal photo pages is on James Lileks’ site:

I like James Lileks’ pages. More of a photo essay than a thumbnail gallery.

I like his pages about the Art of Mr. Frahm. Too funny!

If what your wife objects to are the table borders, you can use the borders=“0” attribute in your table tags to eliminate them.

Sorry, make that border=“0”. No plural.

No, it wasn’t the borders in particular. Just the rectilinear appearance in general.

I appeased her with some new designs with multiple columns that don’t make the mind automatically say “grid”. (These pages are yet to be posted.)

[drool]Mmmm… tables. Nested tables are even better.[/drool]

I have one… you can get to it through my sig. It is pretty table-based, though.

I like basic tables. I’ll sometimes do the zero border thing, but on this sample, I didn’t. Always worked for me just fine.
