On this date (June 30), fifty years ago (1974), Mr VOW and I were married.
Like, WooHOO, people!
We planned no party, cruise, spa day, or any biggie deal. That fits in with how we go through life. We had tentative plans to visit The Son and his family for the weekend, but due to some miscommunication that visit has been postponed. Then we talked about going out to eat with The Daughter and her family.
Well, Mr VOW’s brother surprised us all by sending us a celebratory meal from Honeybaked Ham! Complete with side dishes! To Hell with sodium restrictions! We all are getting hammed today!
Except the oldest Granddaughter might be going someplace.
To add to our festivities (??!!?@#&%!!), I had special tshirts made for Mr VOW and me. The front says “50 years” and the back says “June 30, 1974. June 30, 2024.”
Nobody seems to have noticed, except for maybe the cats. The tshirts are black and they are already collecting cat hair.
My wife and I just celebrated 20 years a couple of weeks ago, so I can only humbly congratulate. Fifty years takes some stamina! < tip hat > < /tip hat >
SunWife and I are on our 30th year right now, so we have some idea of what an accomplishment 50 years makes! Congratulations, and best wishes for many more together!
Congratulations. It is indeed a fine reason to celebrate. I hope you don’t consider it a rain on your parade to mention that on March 14, we celebrated our 60th. The only thing we did was a fancy dinner. And our son who visited for it got us a cake.
In a few weeks we will be having our 60th wedding anniversary. It has been 64 years since we met - it took 4 years to convince her that we should get hitched.
