Seen any interesting ones lately? Today, I was driving and this motorcycle swept past me with the plate “SEMTEX,” as in the plastic explosive a favorite of terrorists the world over.
SEMTEX, eh? I wonder if the FBI are watching him…
Best one I saw was SHIKSA. On a zippy red convertible.

I’ve always wanted to get THPPFTT!

This reminds me very little of my imaginary boot camp days. Our mythical drill sergeant had the original personalized license plate:
HUP 234
I was always partial to 4nic8er
Hmm…
I like:
[list]
[li]6ULDV8[/li][li]HIHOAG (think periodic table)[/li][li]HIOPAL[/li][li]4U2NV (on a flash car)[/li]2NIL8U (on a muscle car)
I always wanted PULMEOVR but hey, talk about asking for it…
Or how about PV3H PV3P (put it on upside down.)
I always liked ELOHSSA. Just imagine seeing that coming at you in your rearview mirror!
Nifty ones on Plymouth Road Runners and Dodge Chargers:

Some highlights:
on an orange '69 Charger: GENERAL
on SuperBirds: WINGED, WINGED 1, 200MPH
on an ex-NASCAR racer: XNASCAR
on Hemi Road Runners: 426BIRD, HEMI RR, B BEEP70
a rear plate: YULOST
laughing Only goes to show, no matter how odd a habit you think you have, someone else is bound to have it too.
I collect personalized license plates. Well, not physically. But if I see a good one, I write it down, and I’ve asked my friends to try to remember good ones they’ve seen. The only rule is that they MUST be real license plates–no making up ones you’d like to see.
Over the years I’ve collected some gems, including
COWTIPN (on a VA plate)
4UDGE (either a vegetarian or a sweet tooth)
NVISBLE (on a Dodge Stealth)
TCHN GO
TOO GRN (the car was VERY green)
EEEK
O SUZY Q
POOLMSTR
REFRIED
FUN CPL
BUK BORD
2Z PARK
HRSPLAY
SAM IM
IREBOOT
EIEIOH
SITHLRD
ABENRML
FROMNJ (on a car with WI plates)
(and yes, there are more)
Here’s one you haven’t seen before

An oboe playing star wars freak guy I knew in college had “oboewan” on his license plate.
Also at college, someone drove a delorean with the “outatm” license plate.
I was behind a little red something the other day that sported: **SIX6VI
back in the early 80’s when the Saab Turbo came out I saw a new one, shiny black, very nice… the liscence plate read “SNAAB”
I too remember a SNAAB plate, from around the same time, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Also, a friend-of-a-friend had POETIC, as in “poetic licence”.
I once saw a Dodge Shadow with the license plate “MEANDMY.”
Damned clever, that.
Hey, I like that one!
When I lived in NY, my license plate was “GR8FL D”.
This reminds me of my friend’s car from a few years ago…her boyfriend at the time owned a Nissan 300ZX. His plate was “ZX RIDER”. She went and bought a Nissan 280SX. Not really thinking it through, she went and got a plate that read “SX RIDER”. She is a very attractive Spanish woman with an exotic look, and, needless to say, she got a lot of comments when she drove around the city.
I saw a picture once of two cars in a driveway…
Hers: SLOT A
His: TAB B
I heard a tale of one here in Ohio (we require front plates) that was revoked.
3M TA3
Now imagine seeing it in your rear view mirror.
Though I normally resist stereotypes and/or generalizations, I have observed that people who display tags such as 2FAST4U usually turn out to be stark raving a**holes.
So what is “shiksa”? Just wondering–that means “meal” in Korean.
Someone here at work just bought a Frontier. He wanted “Final” on his plate.
Cool idea, but his lovely wife bought the plate for him and forgot about it.
