"Pet you elephant, if you kiss my ass"

Does anyone know the rest of the poem this comes from? The one link I’ve found is down.

“The election is over, the results now are known.
The will of the people is quite clearly shown.
So let’s get together, let bitterness pass.
I’ll hug your elephant, and you kiss my ass.”

Huh, and I thought from the title this was going to be about the “Top Ten Things You Shouldn’t Say To A Cop”.

I forgot to credit my answer. The actual doggerel is an old political cliche, documented in Bill Safire’s Dictionary of American Politics.
