Yeah! It’s about time somebody gave those PETA fucktards a taste of their own medicine.
And when they throw red paint on people’s fur coats, I think they should be doused in blood.
A slight hijack…
Something I’ve never understood about the whole red-paint-on-the-fur-coat thing:
Let’s assume for a moment that the PETA people are right, and that wearing the fur of an animal is wrong. Now, the perfectly usable fur coat has been made effectively worthless because it’s been covered in red paint. At least before the dousing, the animal had died for a purpose–the coat was being used. Now at the very least it will be unused, or more likely, the person (presumably wealthy enough to afford one fur coat and therefore able to afford another) will go buy another fur coat to replace the painted one. So now twice as many animals have died to provide one usable article of clothing.
I know that the idea of the protest is to show disapproval, raise awareness, etc., but on a practical level it just seems counterproductive.
[continuing hijack]
But when have PETA ever tried to do something productive or even thought about the consequences of their actions in that way? They tend to go for the “lets get in the news” actions and that just serves to annoy people.
To think that I used to think that PETA was the American version of the RSPCA. :smack:
[/end hijack]
PETA wants people to abandon the use of fur, made with a renewable resource, with coats made of fossil fuels and feedstocks.
I swear no matter what you do someone is upset with you.
Also from the OP story link:
wind? spots?
That would be “flatulence” and “pimples” in American.
sigh I’m all for animal rights, but PETA is taking the entire issue and subverting it to their own ends, namely getting as much publicity as possible, regardless of its effect on their overall success rate.
PETA is nothing but a propaganda mill whose supposed goals of raising awareness of animal suffering through human exploitation has sadly been abandoned in favor of nonsensical public stunts. The purpose of which, so far as I can determine, seems to be generating lots of negative attention from the public and generally embarassing and discrediting themselves, thereby driving would-be supporters away.
If they could counter “Got milk?” ads with thoroughly researched data from accredited scientists and institutions, perhaps then someone somewhere might actually listen to them. As it is their tactics serve only to amuse newspaper readers and draw abuse from schoolkids.
Ah! There’s hope for the Youth of the UK yet! What sensible youngsters!
Now if only we can get teenyboppers in the States to throw baloney whenever Bush opens his yapper…
I agree that PETA are a bunch of jerks. That having been said, I’d like to see more education of our population about the effects of cow’s milk on humans. Here’s a decent article about it. Basically, milk does not always do a body good. In a lot of cases, it’s actually bad, and it gets worse as you get older. http://www.transferpoint.net/education/lactose_intolerance.html
Enjoy,
