Pets and their funny idiosyncrasies

My 17 lb Ragdoll named Seamus has more kitty oddities than all other animals I’ve owned combined. He’s a great help with chores like taking a bath. He insists on sitting on my legs or shoulders when I’m in the bath. Fortunately, if he falls in he doesn’t arm himself with claws and teeth, he just sits there looking pitiful until I get him out.

Seamus also has a very odd attraction to veggies. His first love was “spuddy buddy” a small red potato that he loved to carry around in my mouth and roll across the floor into the kitchen appliances. He amused him greatly to hear it go “thump”, “bonk” etc when it met with a metal surface. We ultimately took spuddy away because he started to get quite stinky.

Shortly after that, he discovered a bag of fresh green beans and the game was on. He plays fetch with them, leaves them in shoes, under my pillow, he bathes them (in his water dish), plops them into his food dish, hides them under just about every piece of furniture and then looks really surprised when he finds them again.

His favorite attention getter is to play dead. When I walk in at night he runs from whatever part of the house he’s terrorizing and flops down dead at my feet. If I ignore him or don’t immediately pay homage, he then rolls completely on his back with all 4 feet in the air. If I’m still not smart enough to get what he’s trying to say, he moves about a foot away, meows loudly and falls over again and again and again. The only stopping this madness is to stop whatever I’m doing and rub his tummy for at least 10 minutes.

There’s a never ending list of goofy antics that Seamus teaches me on a daily basis!

These kittens are watching figure skating. As an aside, that guy lands some pretty nice jumps! (And the whole set-up reminds me of MST3K. )

My Yorkie does not like storms, or rain or any sort of precipitation, really. If it is raining, he will grab a hold of something, preferably a sock, though a shoe will also be sufficient, and if all else fails a toy, and run around the house holding said item. He’s like a small, furry weatherman.

OMG that is adorable! It does look like a feline MST3K…

It also reminded me that many years ago I had a Siamese cat named Jingles that liked to watch pro wrestling. She would sit at the foot of the bed (The TV was on a table at the foot of the bed) and try to catch the wrestlers as they bounced around the ring!
