I’ll be running my first half marathon in Philadelphia next Sunday, November 23. I’m staying near the Philly Convention Center and I need some restaurant recommendations for the night before the race. I’ll be attending with about seven people in their late 20s, and possibly two small children. I’m looking for something that is fairly inexpensive and where we can get some good, not too heavy food. Obviously pasta is a plus.
On a side note, is the area around the convention center fairly safe? i.e. Assuming it’s close enough can we walk to/from dinner without problems?
you should be able to walk around a bit. there are people out at all hours down there.
the places where the buildings go over the street are a bit off-putting because they are dark and have a sinister look. those would be 9th-11th street, between market and arch. just a bit icky.
as far as restaurants… you are in a good area there. you have china town with tons of restaurants. also 7th and chestnut has 2 good rest.s one italian and one good ole american comfort food.
good luck in your run!
of couse i forgot to mention the reading terminal! lots of goodies there.
Thanks, rocking chair! Anyone else?
